Discounts-ordering a new 991S

Hi All,
I am ordering a new 991S by the end of this month. It looks almost certain that taxes are going up and I would bet that the luxury car market is probably slowing down. Any thoughts on the current posture of dealers giving larger discounts?

This enigma has been covered extensively (and with quite some passion) in previous posts, and the trend seems to be anywhere from 3 - 9%.
Even a couple of apparent outliers at 10%..

I think a search on "Discount" may reveal some entertaining threads..

Good luck.

I have read all of those posts. My point was that now (post election) with taxes going up soon and the luxury car market slowing down, has anyone detected a change in dealer sentiment?

I think it may be a little early to gauge dealer sentiment going forward. I can't imagine that they would preempt a potential slowdown by offering larger discounts prematurely.

For instance the manager at the dealership I was working with, felt that their clientele was in an income bracket largely immune to any economic slowdown.

He may yet be proven wrong in his thinking, but I can only imagine that they will hold their position until it becomes an absolute necessity.

I have found some in the business to be slightly unsophisticated in their approach to customers, by adhering to the "make hay while the sun shines" approach no matter the consequences.

Just my personal observations during my 6 month arduous process.

I can't believe that you think dealers are going to start the "fire sale" pricing based on an election and speculation of what might happen in the next year.

Who said anything about "fire sale"? I think most people are aware that the current administration will be raising taxes. That was their platform and they won. More taxes equals less toy money. I'm just trying to time my order to get the best deal. Also I'm being told that an order placed now will be a March delivery. Does that sound about right for a 991S?

Depends on the dealer, their allocation and the number of available slots. Any order at the present time has to be either a January or February build as December's are already locked in, so March is a pretty good bet for delivery.

What do you think would be a good order month for an early 2014 model? I'm guessing about March or April 2013.

I just received today an 8% discount for a ready-to-deliver Carrera S.

Let me know if you care about the specifications, but it's the Agate Gray 991S at Burlington Porsche in Massachussets

Is it 2012 or 2013 model? Why do you have to wait for over a week?

Do tell us the spec and story behind buying from MA please!

No - And price increases usually go with the Model year and not with the calendar.
As far as I know there was no price increase from 2012 - 13. Just more options to chose from...
