Thoughts on winter storage

Hi Guys,

Was looking for some input. I generally don't drive my 991 during the winter as I have a DD for that.

I am afraid if I don't drive it- will it be worse for car ie, flat spots developing on the tires, seals drying up........

Or the other option

Drive it occasionally on dry days just to get the parts moving etc...will have to live with the fact there will be salt dust that gets on to car.

Thanks in advance!

I put winter tires plus a battery tender and take the car out on nice clean dry days for the reasons you stated above but many let it sleep until spring, while others still keep it on the road.
Guess you've got to try it out and see which one works best for you...

Done it many times with my old 997 during winter months and during various deployments. Max inflating my summer tires (50 psi), a battery tender and having a close friend stop by once a month to run the engine during deployment worked like a charm. No flat spots on mine. Garage also maintained to about 50 degrees in winter. That's my two cents. Others may have a better approach.

Guys really appreciate the input-dwags were you referring to fuel stablizer? Why only close doors to first click? Drive it hard before putting it away I assume. Thanks for the clarification.

Once I put my car away I don't start it till spring unless I can get a full warm up at least a half hour. Usually doesn't happen in Minnesota. I put it on Tire Cradles. No flat spots in 12 years of using them. I put a battery tender on and change oil just before storage. Won't be long now. Just doesn't make sense to me to drive in the slush and salt.

I feel sorry for you folks who can't drive your Porsches in the winter. It might get cold enough to worry about the summer tires here maybe 10 days a year.
