Power Push Chart
Power Push Chart
I got the October/November Christophorus and it had the attached power/torque chart in it along with a write-up of the elements. In the past, we've talked about the 30SHP improvement, but I personally am more impressed by the smoothness of the curves and improvement in torque smoothness.

It figures...there's no replacement for displacement, but it might be a good business opportunity for the 991 and the 981S.
The bad news is they don't make one but the good news is that the lines are a little smoother already in the 3.4.

PS My base car is faster and more refined than my 2009 C2S. I'm having more fun driving it than any of the other 14 I've had; in fact, because I don't track it I can't really find a place to fully exercise it and I find myself leaving lights and stop signs rather abruptly (just to safely separate me from other traffic of course).

I have a 991S Cab on order for January production (with powerkit and much more). I'm confused on some of the specs on the X51 option. I certainly understand the increased HP to 430 but having trouble around the Torque. The ordinary S engine produces 440 nm (325 ft lbs) of torque. In the Chrisophorus issue it indicates 325 ft lbs also for the X51. Am I reading everything correct? +30hp but no increase in torque. I do see the change in the torque curve to being much smoother but surprised (?) no torque increase. I do note also that the max Torque in the S is at 5600rpm but the X51 is at 5750 RPM. What am I missing?

That said, I wouldn't worry too much about the description of the power kit...Porsche is known for understating stats and omitting many of the elements involved, it goes far beyond HP and Torque increase.
I know it sucks to have these types of figures for all that extra $$ (especially given the premium we Canadians pay) but, I'm 100% sure that the "feel" derived from the higher compression, redesigned active air intake, increased cooling system, high performance cam etc. etc. will be worth the $$.
The throttle response, power-band, intake sound, exhaust note, gearing ratio's etc. alone are worth the price of admission now add all the highly the next gen. engineering (they don't talk about) and the ECU programming... and you've got yourself a kick@ss 911 that will rival the performance of the GT3 RS 4.0

I think the real problem will be... keeping your license!
Yeah Chuck always finds the good stuff!

I'm sure my 6'4' 265 pnds will have an effect on that time (not counting the 3 strippers
)!I almost went with a nicly build C2S cab + power kit instead of the more fully loaded C4S cab without the power kit (same $$)... but in the end I choose form over function.
The 991 is already so much faster than previous generations (beyond just it's 400HP peak) in such a nimble platform that you get up to "loose your license" speeds mighty fast... regardless whether it's a C2/S C4/S.
That said ya just can't help loving the C2S+power kit or GT3 and Turbo variants...
Yep variety is the spice of life!
Hehehehe thanks for making me feel like less of a ***** Chuck.

PS Sorry you couldn't make it to Escape to the Ozarks, I was looking forward to meeting you. The local club does have it about the same time next year though.
I was actually thinking of waiting for the Turbo at one point. However, this new car is to be a DD for the first 18 months and to get a Turbo Cab I'd probably be looking at Spring 2014 at least. My guess is around $220k+ in Canada for the Turbo Cab. Also, the Turbo is four times as much to insure in BC as a non turbo (in the $10k per year range). Besides I have a 996 TT Cab which has been modified to put out 575 hp plus suspension etc etc. and I'm keeping it as the TOY.
