How long are you planning on keeping your 991?

I just read this article http://blogs.wsj.com/drivers-seat/20...-fueling-sales and it says:

"The average car on the road in the U.S. is now a record 11 years old"

So I'm curious, how long are you planning on keeping your 991?

I ordered my 991S Cab to be initially a DD (18 months max) then be retired and a keeper. I've had my 996 TT Cab 5 years now and it's also a long term keeper. I kept my '72 911 36 years and my '82 26 years.

Is that most people keep their cars for 11 years? Or most cars on the road are 11 years old. Because I'd wager most cars on the road after 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th owners can get quite old indeed.

I'm really surprised to hear most people on here will be keep their cars 12+ years!!! I would have thought the typical Porsche owner flips every 3-5 years.

That's the best part about a Porsche 911, it's in style no matter what year.

My track record for keeping cars is 2-3 years but who knows? One of the things I find semi-unique about Porsche is how many of them I see around that are years old but still look pristine.

This is my first 911. One that I have been waiting for 36 years. So, she will stay with me until one of us dies....

Although, she may be joined by sisters and some cousins through the years....

My daughter has what I refer to as "death dibs"...so, it's going to be here for while....

While driving in our MGB, when she was 5 or 6 she asked if she could have that car when i die. I told her that she could....we've kidded her about her "death dib" request ever since. She is almost 21, a college junior, and has recently posted on her Facebook that the "best part of going home for vacation is driving the Porsche"....

While I certainly won't have any problem (or for that matter be able to comment) after my demise, I did tell her that one of the best aspects of Porsche ownership is actually buying it herself...she smiled and said it's better to receive than to pay...

Rnl, you've got a very smart girl there!! My daughter is only 5 but she already asks when we are going to get the convertible Porsche. She LOVED all the test drives. Not sure she will be asking for it when I die just yet but it won't be too far from now. That being said I had my 997 for about 3.5 years and have missed it every day since I sold it. So I'm hoping to be able to keep this one a bit longer. I sold it to get a family car when she was born., 5 series. For the 991 I told the wife we could have a second child only if I got another Porsche. So my car will be delivered in Jan and my son will be 6 months one in Jan. guess it all worked out.
