I'll keep mine between 18-24 months because thats just the way its worked out in the past. Another Porsche may just take my fancy and who knows what may happen. There are so many goodies coming along... GT3, RS, GTS, Targa... all yummy temptations.

I'm all in on this one. Driving for me is a passion...and to be able to share it with a car like the one I'm getting in April is an honor, and a friendship built to last.

I've only kept cars 2-4 years (then again I'm only 30 as I write this) but this car is so much fun, I figure I'll keep it for a long time. And maybe supplement it with the next incarnation of the 911 when that comes.

TopGear magazine (Jan 2013) published the distribution of the ages of all cars in the U.K.:

Less than 3 years old: 18.80%
3 - 6 years old: 21.39%
6 - 9 years old: 22.97%
9 - 12 years old: 19.99%
More than 12 years old: 16.85%

Of course, these cars may and probably will have had multiple owners. The greatest proportion of cars is between 6 and 9 years old.

It's interesting to note that about a third of us here on 6speed are planning on keeping our 991s 3-5 years. It's even more interesting to see that more than a sixth of us are planning to keep our 991s 12+ years (essentially forever).

I'm averaging about 2 years per car since 18 (37 now). this one will 99% be 2 years since it's a 2 year lease and the residual is too high for it be worth buying.

I've had my 356 for 22 yrs, Boxster for 10 yrs so my 991 will be around for a while. I buy them because I like them so tend to keep them. Great to drive. 356 fun to work on.

I love the guy that only keeps a car for less than a year!! My 2011 GTS msrp 128,000 bought it for 100,000 flat with 1,400 miles!! Not a mark on it. I was patient and struck when the oppertunity came. Let someone else pay for the options. Great thing about the internet, you can always find the exact (or close too) car you want. (Patience)

Will attempt (I say attempt because my track record with cars disqualifies my attempts in the past) to keep this new 991 through the four year warranty and plus one year. That would be contingent on how the repair costs are after warranty. Sometimes if repair costs get out of hand, it is worth investing in a new one ( maybe an S?). Should not be thinking like this already. Does not bode well for the future!

In my experience this has been more difficult to accomplish with the 991 (but not impossible). I also waited for the right opportunity. 2012 991S...MSRP 126,000. I paid 92,000 with CPO for a car with 10,000 miles.....close to immaculate.
