Daytime Running Lights 991
Daytime Running Lights 991
Anyone know how to or have been successful in shutting off the Daytime Running Lights on a 991 Cab.
I have looked at all of the settings and can't find how to do it.
The manual says it depends on your Country?
Shutting them off on my old 09 Coupe was easy.

You can look it up in the Imanual ..the link is in the next post... Good luck
Setting the daytime running lights
If the "Daytime Run. Lights" function is active ( ), the dimmed headlights will always be switched on when the engine is running. This applies regardless of the light switch setting. The lighting for the instruments and switches is still switched on and off using the light switch regardless of the "Daytime Run. Lights" setting.
The "Daytime Run. Lights" setting can only be changed when the vehicle is stationary or moving at walking speed.
The function is only available in countries where daytime running lights are not mandatory.
Press the INFO button.
Press the OPTION button or touch the tab of the same name in the header.
Select "Individual memory"
> "Light".
Select "Daytime Run. Lights" to activate ( ) or deactivate ( ) the function.

You are correct. I have tried everything and I cannot seem to be able to shut them off.

Curious why you want to turn DRLs off?
It's very clearly a safety thing, especially when driving at speed. A lot of oncoming drivers just aren't as alert as they should be. Don't the lights get their attention maybe a half-tick sooner?

In Canada these are mandatory. When this became law (mid 70's I think) there was a drop in collisions and the use of these lights were credited. Rightly or wrongly.

i'd like to have the option...I am active in a local astronomy club and I have avoided driving this car to the observing sites. I usually show up at dusk and cannot turn these night vision destroying devices off when I leave.
Masking tape for the night?
nope..two words: Honda Odyssey.
I won't suffer the deserved wrath of my fellow club members if I ruin their evening observing session. Light could alway leak out from some inadvertently unmasked lamp.
one you lose night vision it may take hours to regain low light sensitivity. ...I am generally an astrophotographer - set up, turn it on, test shot, evaluate, then let it run automatically for hours on end while I hang out with the visual guys looking through their humungus scopes. If some bozo visits the site and blinds the others, I just lose a digital frame or so.

Btw , you should check with the dealer if this can be reprogrammed or option could be given to turn off/on...let us know how it goes

The Horsehead Nebula/IC434 and NGC 2024 (Flame Nebula)...in Orion (the winter constellation with the three stars to the right of Sirius)
two versions...jpg and pdf
75 exposures stacked.
SBIG Camera (no color wheel), Takahashi E180 scope, G11 Losmandy mount guided by SBIG guider. Processed in Maxim DL.
..just a black and white photo. The color photos are ginormous ..half gig and more
Sometimes I prefer black and white as the color is often distracting.
