Need feedback on my 2013 991S configuration
Hey guys, been reading the forums for the last 4 months. Many thanks to all of you for your posts, comments, information, insight and for sharing. I have been learning as much as I can!
OK, on to my configuration. Would love your guys' thoughts and feedback.
First, a bit about how I will use the car. I'm in Silicon Valley, California. This will be my daily driver. I drive about 7500 miles per year. At best I will get this car to the track once a year, maybe not even that. My current ride is a 2007 BMW 335i coupe. I suspect I'll use 65% of the performance capabilities of this car max, so I'm going with mostly "creature comfort" options and little on the performance option side. I plan to keep this car for 5 years minimum, maybe longer. I'm more focused on configuring for how I'll like it as opposed to resale.
I'm convinced to go with MT. My current car is manual. I drove PDK and while it's an amazing transmission, I enjoy the MT more.
Also, I'm a bit on the fence with the following options:
- PASM Sport Suspension. When driving the S in sport mode and with the tight shock absorber settings, i did not find the ride overly firm.
- Power Sport Seats (14 way) versus Sport Seats Plus. I like the ability to have the seat memory, but i will drive this car 95% of the time, my wife only occasionally. Maybe I should save $2K and go with the Sport Seats Plus instead.
Proposed configuration:
P37 BOSEŽ Audio Package $2,420
P3E Premium Package Plus $2,330
1H Platinum Silver Metallic $710
BL Leather interior in Black/ Luxor Beige $4,120
603 Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) $0
636 ParkAssist (front and rear) $990
653 Sunroof in glass $1,990
748 Electric folding exterior mirrors $320
030 PASM Sport Suspension $890
487 7-speed Manual Transmission $0
423 20-inch Carrera S wheel $0
446 Wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest $185
022 Instrument Dials in Black $0
P06 Power Sport Seats (14-way) $2,320
844 Multi-function steering wheel $615
970 Two-tone leather interior $0
XSC Porsche Crest on headrests Exclusive $285
Please share your feedback, the more the better, and thanks in advance!

Sport chrono and sport exhaust. The Sport Chrono gives you a lot more versatility in one car. I love how the car handles and responds in Sport Plus. The Sport Exhaust is very pleasing.
As for SPASM, go for it. For the price, it's a no-brainer and it isn't too harsh at all.
Burmester? I didn't and went Bose. If I did it again, I would go Burmester.

If you are comfortable in the sport plus seats I'd go with those vs the power seats. All the adjustments aren't needed if the regular seats fit you well. I'd also say go for burmester or base stereo. If you haven't already listen to the base. If you are happy with it and the base seats you've got lots of "saved" money to put towards PSE and Sport chrono.

+1 on the pse and sc
I would disagree, if you drive in the city, san francisco for example, the sensors can be a godsend in really tight parking situations.
gotta keep that bumper pristine
The build looks great but as other have said i'd consider sports chrono, PSE and burmester. Spasm has great reviews and I wouldn't hesitate.

Great choices, very similar to mine for what you have listed. I did go for the SC, PSE, and Burmester as others have mentioned. I didn't have the latter two on my 997 so I splurged on this one. You could likely be happy with just SC and this is also a factor for resale.
No matter what it will be a Porsche and a great car...

Agree with D.
The dynamic engine mounts alone are reason enough to get sports chrono. The handling is significantly enhanced and I would def get it and the SPASM.
??? I have been driving and parking with many different cars for a long time, don't see how the two are related. I see it as a convenient.
Unless you spend a lot of time listening to music in your car, I rather spend that $ on Sport Exhaust, that is music for me. It is not the best out there, but it is pretty darn good. But that is just me.

I assume you are value oriented or else you would just get everything. Given that...
I would skip the Sport Chrono. Aside from the dampeners, which I don't feel are critical if you aren't going to track it, you only get the sport plus. I don't see much difference between sport and sport plus in my manual.
Having said that if getting Sport Chrono will get you the rev-matching feature it may be worth it in my view.
Use the savings to get the PSE. PSE is not critical either as the car sounds pretty good in sport mode without it. PSE takes it up a notch if you like to listen to engine sound. I am happy I have it but honestly I don't put it on that much with around town driving.
Of course color choices are personal but with silver I would go all black leather (it is really more charcoal). I don't like three different colors.

Everything is personal taste and looks like a great build, but if you want to save a few bucks, a few things to consider: Metallic paint - do you really need it. The paint job on the 991 is so good, it is up to you if you really want it. I've had metallic paint on other cars, and after a few months I've asked myself why did I spend the extra money. Sunroof - have had sunroofs on all my other cars and have hardly used it. You may be different living in CA, but I did not bother putting it on my Porsche. Electric mirrors - I have it and I love it. Wheel Caps - look on ebay and buy a set for $30 and save yourself $150. It is super easy to change. Multi Function Steering Wheel - great option. Crest - nice to have and look at, but has been my experience that it is hard to clean and doesn't look so good when it gets dirty. I think Sport Chrono is a must (and looks super cool).
