So I might have to have it delivered to the house instead of driving it home like I had planned. With the dealership 90 minutes away, I just don't want to drive that long in the snow the first day I get it.

extremely bummed for you too my friend...what is the deal with having it delivered to your home? does it pass through the dealer first for prep then to you? is there an additional cost involved to you? i'm in a similar situation where the dealer is about 2hrs from me. hang in there! i'm doing the same by a thread.

The car would be taken to the dealer, prepped and everything, then they have an enclosed trailer that they would load it onto and bring it to my house. In this case its a nice option due to the distance and weather. There is no cost, it's part of what they offer. I was just really hoping to take it out some this weekend while the weather is nice and the roads are clear. What can you do, I'm just glad I'm 1 step closer. Should have all the financing done today so when the car comes I don't have to deal with all that mess.
So to ease my frustration, I'm trying to plan a fly fishing trips to the Keys in April and then to Montana in June and\or Canada in July. It's giving me something to do to keep my mind off the car delays!!

I just realized that my company offers 2 weeks of paid parental leave for the father when you have a child born. Pretty cool, however it has to be used within the first year of birth. My son was born in July so I have until July to use it. So I'm planning some guys trips! Hence all the fishing stuff, since my wife will have to stay home and work since she doesn't have the extra vacation. Also kicking around the idea of the Porsche driving school! Who knows but whatever I do I have to use it before early July so I'm researching away this weekend! It really helps to keep my mind off the car!

I received a note from my dealer yesterday explaining why my car is still at port after 9 days. Not sure if all of us are affected but wanted to post it here incase any of you are stuck in port like I am.

From dealer:
I found out this evening that all Porsche 911 models were held up at Port for additional inspections regarding the exhaust systems. We received a published list by Porsche Cars North America with the VIN number for ever car affected with this issue.

I have no other details at this time.

Sorry man!! That sucks. The only thing I can tell you to give you a glimpse of hope is that the dealer system is always behind. On a more positive side, when it does arrive, you are going to have 2 solid weeks with your new Baby! Congrats on the birth of your son too!

An, it's no big deal. I was just posting in case others were stuck in port. It's always nice to have some information. I'm hoping it is released from port soon, but then again it's supposed to snow for the next few days so.....

According to my dealer it will only affect cars with the standard exhaust. There are over 3200 991's in Canada/US that will be affected.

My dealer advises, in Canada if they have one of the affected cars in stock they cannot deliver it to a customer until the fix is done. Anticipated date for the parts for the fix is May!

Apparently some exhaust parts are cracking on higher mileage units.

Holy smokes. That is terrible. Thank god I ordered PSE. I'm already going nuts with the delay, not sure What I would do if I knew my car was here in Port and I could not get it. Waiting two or three more months on top of already waiting the initial 4 months might just push me over the edge!!!

Dealer told me today that my car which arrived Saturday has moved to off-loaded and then to stickered. I think the latter means that they have cleared it and put a US window sticker on the car. He thinks it will be in Cincinnati next week for sure.

I did get PSE

He showed me a recall notice on the exhaust/muffler but it was for cars mfg. in early to mid-2012. Nothing more recent.

Wow. I am so glad I ordered with PSE. My car just arrived at port yesterday. I can't take much more of this. All day I've been worried about whether or not my car was effected. I feel awful for anyone that just found out they need to wait 2 more months.

My dealer indicated further that it was cars built between Nov '11 and Nov '12 with standard exhaust. They can't even deliver one of those vehicles to a customer until the fix is done (assuming they have any in stock).

About time to get car. On Friday it will be 6 months since order and I'm only hoping car will be within 2-3 weeks. Talk about painstaking delay. Problem is Canada doesn't get many production slot allocations.

Interesting that he would tell me about the hold in port now if it was only for 2011 and 2012 cars. Since I have a 2013 and PSE none of it should effect me. That being said, my car is still on port for reasons no one seems to be able to explain to me.
