Ordering Question - Sport Chrono Package
Ordering Question - Sport Chrono Package
Hi everyone, the advice on this forum has always been fantastic, so I'm going to thank everyone in advance for their help with this question.
I'm in the process of ordering a manual 991 S Coupe and keep going back and forth on whether or not the sport chrono is worth it. I had a manual 997 C2S Cab that had it, but essentially other than revising the throttle mapping that's all it did. The 991 S has a separate sport button for throttle mapping, I'd get the dynamic engine mounts which were previously only available in the GT3, but since I'm getting the manual, I can't tell what else I'm getting. Porsche's web site seems to indicate I'd get even more aggressive PASM and throttle mapping. Is that true?
This will purely be a weekend/fun car. I'm not ordering PTV or PDDC.
Thanks again for your help and insight!

I was on the fence like you but just added it to my order 2 weeks ago. If nothing else I bet it helps the resale. I've never driven one with out it so I don't do how the engine acts with out the mounts.
I would recommend it. I have a manual S coupe with Sport Chrono and I really like the versatility that the sport chrono provides. Sport Plus mode is a joy to have. If you are in my area, I can give you a ride to see the difference.

Silversled,
I'm in a similar boat as you. About to pull the trigger on a MT 991S. I decided to skip the sport chrono. I am doing PSE and going with a bunch of 'comfort' enhancements like leather.
Ultimately, i could not get to a clear rationale on why to get sport chrono. It's manual, so don't see the need for changed throttle mapping. Dynamic engine mounts don't seem to be so critical for how i plan to drive the car (DD, don't plan to track it).
Having made my decision, i can't say i'm 110% convinced it's the right one

get a colored face for the dash clock/timer that will enhance it (ie, red if black interior)
