Contacted a local dealer - here is his quote --

Good morning, as for the parts cost its going to be $235. But for the labor aspect it is a little difficult to give an exact price. The center console has to be taken out and hopefully there is a plug connection there for the cigarette light and if not then we would have run some wiring to make it work. Labor wise worst case scenario I would say it would cost $670 plus the cost of the parts going in.

So, in typical Porsche fashion, putting it in can be on the expensive side, especially if they have to run the extra wire!!

Ironic, $1000 for a free option.

Thanks.

Happened to me today, leaned against it while getting in by mistake and now it wont close! Should i take in into the dealer or is there a quick fix?

I've had it since March 15 delivery and about 6,200 miles. Never had an issue with it popping open! Best value on the car!

I have it, and have never once had a problem with it opening inadvertently (through 5,500 miles).

6 months, 4000 miles, 7MT. Never had it open accidentally. I don't use the outlet, but i like the clean finish.
