Agree with dhill on Xpel ultimate. Go independent. I had mine done and really like it.

As for wheel insurance, you can negotiate down as they have nice margins built in.

I plan on using the guy I talked to a couple of weeks ago for the Xpel. He isn't too far away and is willing to come to the house to do the install. Will see how much I can negotiate the tire and wheel package. Gonna pass on all the other stuff. Hope to have all this done by Monday and hope to have some idea of when the car will leave port by then as well!

I paid $1095 for the 60 month tire and wheel insurance, so there has to be some wiggle room in that price.

Yes! I used it in Downtown LA, San Antonio, and Orlando. There are three companies across the US it seems. The dealer may have to call each one if you don't know who you got your warranty through. That is for the tires. I haven't used it for the wheels yet. For the most part it's same day if they have tire in stock or in town. I'm not sure how a wheel repair would work. Like someone else mentioned, unless it is completely ruined, they will pay for repairs not replacement. That is what I was told by one of the techs couple of days ago

Hope it helps!

chup, totally helps, thanks! i'm on the fence about this one, but having replaced 4 tires in the past 2 years on my bimmer makes me lean toward getting it. don't know what my dealer will offer, but at least i have a base line price estimate now.

I am tracking the car, so Clearbra is a good option, but my Porsche dealership asked for about 30% less than yours for this.

I also got the wheels + tires insurance, less than $800 for 3 years. Paid itself back after 2 months / big pothole on my previous car.

LowJack? (if it works), I am not sure I would like my car back after it got stolen. Happened to me once, many years ago and guys went on a joyride... The police found the car the next day and the fire extinguisher had been emptied in the cabin to erase fingerprints. For the next 3 years, I got white powder coming out of the vents when I turned on the A/C. The engine died at 60,000 miles. So no, if the car is gone, it's gone...

I wish I had a tire plan. At 1800 miles I got a nail in one of the rear tires near the outside edge. Couldn't be fixed. Replacement cost at the local Porsche dealer $725.

I had front clear bra installed on 1/2 the hood, whole front bumper and front fenders for about $800 - hope that helps.

The finance person is just another sales person - don't let their title fool you. At most dealerships, they are among the highest-producing sales people. Virtually all of what they try to sell you is overpriced - shop around and you can find better clear bra, window tint, etc. for about half what the dealers want. I saw an invoice for the add-ons once and the dealer mark-up is over 100%.

Of course, if you have more money than time, it is simple to just let the dealer do everything for you. I guess it's the cost of convenience.

In the old days, they tried to sell you undercoating and rust protection. Now it's fabric protection and wheel insurance. Same purpose - to line their pockets with your money.

Congrats on the new car. I work for LoJack and bias aside, you would have to be crazy to not have a LoJack it. If you're interested, send me a PM, may be able to get you a deal. Thanks.
