991 GT3 pics revealed
I guess there are a few other variables, but a GT3 seems almost like a slam dunk.
so i looked at the UK build and there doesn't seem to be very many options...so I guess the question is, why would anyone build out a 125k CS when they can get a GT3 for 130k....?? And can someone confirm, GT3 doesn't have back seats right?
Correct... GT3 means no back seat, no sunroof, less sound deadening, less ride height and more bad assness
Not quite.
exclude the SPASM from that statement. SPASM without PDCC has virtually no body roll, dive or squat.
SPASM with PDCC has both considerably softer springs and softer torsion bar and needs PDCC to cancel the roll (but gets the added advantage of a softer ride - that is really what PDCC is buying you in this context).
GT3 suspension should be very similar to SPASM w/o PDCC. My guess. If it is - I like it already...

Thanks for explanation Rainier but SPASM spring rates and ride are the same with or without PDCC:
The ride height is 0.79 of an inch (20 mm) lower than with the standard 911 Carrera suspension, and 0.39 of an inch (10 mm) lower than the PASM suspension. The springs are harder and shorter, and the anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles are stiffer.
Model_______Sway bar diameter_______front spring_____rear spring
991S________26.8 mm________________28 nm_________62 nm
991S Sport___28.0 mm________________33 nm________108 nm
Once you add PDCC you get the added benefits of that system which is more about lateral movement.
Porsche: "PDCC is an active anti-roll system that suppresses lateral body movement during cornering maneuvers.
In addition, it minimizes the lateral instability of the vehicle on uneven ground.
This effect is achieved with the aid of hydraulic stabilizing actuators in the form of cylinders designed to optimize camber. Lateral roll is counteracted by forces generated at each individual wheel, based on steering angle and lateral acceleration."
Different cars for different primary purposes would be the reason for the price and offering. As improved as it is, I doubt that most folk would want a GT3 as a daily driver.
Yup, no back seats
I used to drive mine as a daily driver. It was like sitting on a shiatsu massager without the padding. I looked kool, but my butt was usually numb when I got to work. that lasted only a short time. I actually am about an hour and a half from the track, so on track days i drive there, and have to walk and stretch before driving on the track. I admit, it is a high class problem

As I work from home I never needed to drive my GT3 every day. I did drive it 400 miles home from Destin FL and it was interesting. Yup the old butt was in space for a few days!
I've stated on other threads that since getting my 991S I've not missed the GT3 much... with this new 991 GT3 being somewhat more road refined I'm not going to be able to hold on too long! Those looks!!!! Awesome!
Is the track you go to Barber?

Because some people don't want or need the additional power or road holding provided by the GT3 and prefer the enhanced daily driver nature of a Carrera S and some people feel the extra $ isn't money well spent. To each his own.

BTW, are LEDs PDLS (sway in direction if steering??)
regarding the gt3 as a dd, one comment in the ap interview stood out in the short moment that i considered regretting my c2s purchase instead of the 991 gt3. (i've recovered btw)
it doesn't need pdcc nor does it come with it. no need! the suspension is THAT taut, which translates into a suboptimal dd. now if i were a omnipresent track monger (sm atl, i know you're out there!) who needed a dd, well, that would make it very tough to not go for it!
