Btw, although the front axle lift option (1 inch lift) is not on the configurator it is apparently available as: 474 Front axle lift system $3,490

First deliveries are scheduled for December.
Like for other Porsche's, dealerships have access to a longer/more detailed list of options.
The price is not such a good surprise IMHO, I was expecting the GT3 to come out a few $k lower. And not for ranting again about the same thing, but if you want to track your car, you are paying for seats you'll have to replace. The other bummer -and I know it would not change for the 991 GT3- were the center locks: I know the benefits in term of weight, but it makes swapping your wheels a PITA (plus, it limits your choice/increase the cost of aftermarket track wheels too ). It is a very nice gimmick but not a practical or economically justify feature unless you have a pit crew.

OK I am criticizing the car but I still love it

Serge, I agree on all counts. The lift is a pricey option and one I would forego. It's a shame about the seats. I'm sure there's some crazy reason. Ahh the center locks. From a point of aesthetics... sublime. I loved looking at them on my previous GT3. From a point of practicality.... you're right, pricey replacements.

If it helps to make your case a bit more justifiable I'll volunteer my time as your pit crew.... Btw, zero experience!

My dealer will give me their first allocation and order the car to my spec. If I like it when I test drive it, I buy it, else they sell it on. They're good with that.

All this GT3 stuff has had me thinking a bit more about the things I love about a 911. It turns out that for me the magical moments haven't just been about the performance but have been times when I've taken my two little nephews (5 & 8) in the car for fun drives. In had missed being able to do that in my GT3 and had forgotten that with the 2S. Hmmmmm. I will miss the rear seats.

Same with Canada. I am very tempted by this car but each time I try the "flappy paddle" I walk away unsure. I know its a "grow on you thing" and I will eventually have to change but its just my last hope of holding onto something that I take great pride and enjoyment in - shifting and blipping! 12 sold at my dealership so far and deposits being taken for a most likely Spring 2014 delivery.

Even as someone looking at a base C2 the GT3 is mighty tempting.

Did anyone find the front axle lift option? I can't find it in the configurator.
Beside price different, I think the reason is harsher ride (regular Carreras vs GT3), same discussion goes to NA engine vs some chooses Turbo instead of GT3.

I like the elegant look of the Carrera a bit more than the GT3, which is starting to look too ricey or something.

Haku, GREAT Pic and good points. I'm planning on taking my kids (7 and 9) out tomorrow. It will be the first time to drive the car since November. CAN'T WAIT!! Probably not going to sleep much tonight.

I love the 991 GT3. Would like it more without the wing for daily use. I just prefer the cleaner, classic 911 look, but the more I think about it the less it makes sense for me. . . Unless I have both. Pretty sure my wife is not going to go for that.

Hey Haku, what kinda of a rear seat do you have that fits so nicely :-)

Serge, thanks. That's quite true it'll have to be one at a time.
I was at the dealer today and was told that like the 997 GT3 the new one won't have any rear seats and related safety fittings like seat belts etc. so installing the seat cushions will not do the job.

Uhn, I was super skeptical about the 991S pdk box and had assumed it may be the same as on the 997 (which I hated). I was utterly wrong. The box is stunning and I actually love it.

Agree about the design and the wing but it is functional. Now about getting both...

Frank, my brother had bought the child and I'll check with him and post which one it is. I do know that it fits beautifully.
