2014 911 Turbo "S" for xmas

So I was at Champion today, and I was curious about the GT3 911 coming out, and was gonna make a deposit on it. Then I asked about Turbo, and went that direction as I was giving my deposit to get on the list, we found out that 2014 will have Turbo "S" and it should be in by December and being that its brand new info I was able to get to #2 on the list for the Turbo "S" builds...

I was under the impression P usually runs the S lines at then end of a run?

does all this sound right? I cant find anything online about a 2014 911 Turbo S

The turbo and turbo S will likely be launched together this time to give customers a direct choice between the two. The turbo would be the better deal between the two unless you absolutely want and need pccbs.

PCCB is a must IMO. No brake dusts!!!

I thought the Turbo S will NOT come out until a year later after the Turbo variance is release?

It doesn't sound right but the guys at Champion usually have their facts straight on that kind of stuff. Trust them to get it right more than the Collection, speaking as someone who bought their 991 from Champion and cancelled my order at the Collection. There have been many improvements to the factory in Stuttgart so the new timeline makes sense. Congrats!

With the other 911 variants the base and S models are released simultaneously. There is no reason to do so differently for the turbo. The 997 turbo S was released a bit later than the base right around the time customers were about to receive deliveries of their 997 base turbo. This annoyed many customers, justifiably so. Porsche will now release the two at the same time. But really the turbo S is in fact just a highly optioned turbo version with the most expensive option being pccbs as standard. Pdk was also standard on the 997 turbo S, but not on the base. This time around pdk will likely be the only available transmission.

I was also told locally that the "S" will be co-launched. They hinted at early 2014 though. Hope Xmas is great for you!

I had a chat to a manager of one of the exclusive Porsche dealers here in the UAE to put down a deposit on the next turbo and the info I got from him is that the marketing strategy has changed this time round, whereby they were told by Stuttgart that the Turbo S deliveries will happen before the base turbo. I was told that the Turbo S would arrive around October, with the base turbo to start during the forst quarter of 2014. When i asked about pricing, he couldn't confirm yet but said he expects the turbo to be around $169k - 180k, with the turbo s being above 190k. As always, information such as these can be sketchy atthis stage, but the guy seemed convinced, at least in respect of the marketing strategy and I have no reason to doubt him. Would make good commercial sense to sell the normally low volume turbo S's to eager early adopters who wouldnt mind shelling out the extra instead of waiting for the base. Im thinking of holding out, but you never know, lets see whether my resolve will last thatlong.

Not sure about Dubai, but the regular Turbo here starts around 140k, so I would think they wouldn't raise the price by 30k starting. I would say 140k-150k starting for the Turbo.

Pricing did seems somewhat on the upside, but considering how much the previous 997.2 turbo went for, plus the rumours about the upcoming significant price hike (which doesn't sound far fetched considering the current pricing for the 991 and 991s over here vs previous generation), I wouldn't be surprised if it did end up in that price range (although I am hoping to be wrong on this one).

In respect of the turbo s coming before the base, that seems to mirror the approach range rover has taken vis-a-vis the much anticipated 2013 range rover (where they decided to launch the supercharged versions months before the HSE to steer potential HSE buyers to buy the more expensive supercharge, an approach that seems to be working well for the being herein the middle east).

Although I really do hope the porsche does follow its custom of launchingthe base turbo first (I after all am looking to get that one), the manager's talk seems to corroborate what has been communicated by dealersto various other customers, in Europe. Im sure I have seen a couple of posts re italian dealers with this same talk a while back, either here or on rennlist.

Lets hope its all BS and hope for the best ( the base turbo pre xmas with a not so big price hike).

You are correct, and your dealer is inexperienced IMO. There won't be a 991 Turbo S anytime soon, always end of model car, unless Porsche goes a completely new path, like all PDK cars ROFL. Oops that's right they did that...so who knows.

There will be a Turbo for sure late year or early 2014, but I'd be willing to bet a large sum no Turbo S, as P is always about traditions and keeping the market primed with pipeline of products. What value would releasing both a Turbo (most profitable unit they sell) and also a Turbo S. while they do it on the base 991, never have on Turbos, as many guys buy the new Turbo early and then turn them in 3 yrs later for a Turbo S, at least that what I see in my P club. So why not sell two cars, not one in a 5 year window, economics.

All that said Champion is the authority in most things as I believe they have he largest allocation.

But I can say this, I would never want a Turbo or Turbo S over a GT3, as apples and oranges as you can get. And with a base GT3 with 475 conservative HP, not sure how much more car any of us need. RS wil likely then be 490 HP is my guess; just under the 4.0 as to not whack those recent buyers but with the PDK still be a significant leap forward performance wise.

If you want a GT3' put the deposit down, despite all the manual vs PDK debate, they will sell fast IMO. My dealer has three deposits this week.

Speaking of deposits (GT3).....

What do most dealers want ? I was quoted $5K locally where I just purchased
my 2013.

W/ delivery in Dec 2013 @ MSRP.....Doesn't make sense to me.

My dealer has never asked for deposit. Not even on a custom paint car.

$5k for me. Got #5 spot, so around Dec 2014 build is their guesstimate at the moment. Which NW dealer you at and what spot did they promise for dec 2013 build?
