Manual trans - start / stop?
Manual trans - start / stop?
I have a manual transmission car, and haven't ever had the engine go into "stop" mode.
I drove around recently with sport mode off, the auto start-stop button left alone. No buttons pushed. Engine fully up to temp. And I still got the little start/stop indicator with the slash through it in the instrument dial when stopped at a traffic light, with the engine happily idling along. (Very different from when I test-drove a PDK car and the engine shut off every time I stopped).
I am not complaining...I actually prefer it this way. I just wondered how start/stop would work with a manual transmission.

It seems a little finnicky for sure. I have experienced it when I'm at a stoplight with the car in neutral, the clutch pedal not depressed, and with my foot on the brake. The second you touch the clutch or release the brake it fires right back up. Also, if I'm in stop/go traffic or a ton of lights, it doesn't work (the little yellow A with the arrow through it appears). Seems only after I'm on the highway or at a steady pace then come to a light that it work.
Just turn it off....that's what we all do
