Manual trans - start / stop?

I have a manual transmission car, and haven't ever had the engine go into "stop" mode.

I drove around recently with sport mode off, the auto start-stop button left alone. No buttons pushed. Engine fully up to temp. And I still got the little start/stop indicator with the slash through it in the instrument dial when stopped at a traffic light, with the engine happily idling along. (Very different from when I test-drove a PDK car and the engine shut off every time I stopped).

I am not complaining...I actually prefer it this way. I just wondered how start/stop would work with a manual transmission.

It seems a little finnicky for sure. I have experienced it when I'm at a stoplight with the car in neutral, the clutch pedal not depressed, and with my foot on the brake. The second you touch the clutch or release the brake it fires right back up. Also, if I'm in stop/go traffic or a ton of lights, it doesn't work (the little yellow A with the arrow through it appears). Seems only after I'm on the highway or at a steady pace then come to a light that it work.

Just turn it off....that's what we all do

There's a start/stop function somewhere in my manual 991?

You need to be in neutral with your foot on the brake for the feature to function. Like that's gonna ever happen.

The battery has to be fully charged, a/c must not be on max, car must be up to temp, etc. their are a lot of different circumstances that will keep it from engaging.

I turn it off... I live in NYC and the car just shuts off to only turn back on... This can't be good for the engine...

It's good for EPA rating only....if someone really needs it to save fuel, if it actually does, they should be driving a differnt vechicle, IMHO
