Tail Light Moisture...again!
Tail Light Moisture...again!
Both tail lights were replaced last month because of moisture collecting inside
the lenses.
I had not been out in any REAL rain until today (3/19/13).
Thought I'd look to see if my luck was holding...it wasn't.
OK, it doesn't look like much, but in my opinion any fogging is not right.
Check your tail lights and see if you are having the same issue. I've contacted the service dept and await their recommendation.
(good wax job huh?)

Probably not what you want to hear, but I've experienced this on new vehicles and it went away with time. Also, you might turn on the parking lamps manually for a few minutes and the heat from the electronics/bulbs will dry out the moisture.
I've had moisture, but it goes away. I drive in the rain a lot hehe, no worries. In the 997 I'd get some headlight moisture too, but haven't noticed that (yet) in the 991.
My side clear reflector bulbs however (the custom super-bright aftermarket LED ones) will blink on and off a bit also with moisture inside, but later (so far) they work fine again.

Edit - actually, hmm. Haven't noticed clear tails getting any moisture yet. It was just the red ones.

Always occurred after a drive in wet weather..... with these new
units and the originals.
I have owned many cars over the years and only one (new 1994 NSX) had moisture in the lights. Was replaced under warranty as defective & cured the problem.
There are two round plastic gray caps over openings in the back of each of the 991 tail lights. I was told these are vents - by the dealer. I'm asking why? What are they for? They are clueless.
Of course I am the only one in the world who is having the problem.
My opinion it's a defect. Why would anyone want water in their tail lights?

Can't really tell from the picture, but seems to me that the tail lights should have some kind of rubber gasket or weather stripping to prevent water from getting into the back of the unit?
