Here is my deal...opinions please

Found a '13 C2S that I am trading my 05 C2S in on. The 991S has Prem. Pk +, PSE, PDK, sunroof, sport chrono, clear bra and the wheels I what. Dealer wants 63,800 and my car. Sounds good to me. However car is not CPO'ed. Dealer says nearly full factory warranty remains. I want the added 2 years and 100,000. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Owner traded in the 991S for a Mercedes AMG something other after only one month saying he needed more of a back seat. Car is almost exactly what I would order if I were going to order a 991. Am I silly to try to get the CPO thrown in? I can't see how it would cost them anything to certify it. Opinions please.

Just simplify things and keep another $3800 in your pocket or walk.

I'm not sure it qualifies for cpo, it certainly wouldn't qualify at BMW.

Without more details on your old car it is hard to evaluate the economics. I do believe that CPO costs a delaership about $3K - from PUSA.

My '05 is base S with sport chrono, 14 way adaptive sports seats. 6 SPD manual with 23k. I did upgrade to 997.2 front bumper and the Dectane rear LED tails. Maybe doesn't add value but adds curb appeal perhaps. Also has Carrera Sport II wheels. Dealer is asking 108,900. Car has 695 miles. I believe it listed $119,000ish as optioned. Sold new 01/28/13.

If you want it to be cpo'd be prepared to pay a little more.

So you're getting $45k from the dealer for an '05. Sounds pretty good to me. Those are private party kinds of prices.

I'd try politely pushing for the CPO thrown in with the idea of getting them to split the difference in the end.

I agree the $45K trade in seems good. I traded an 06 S-Cab and got $50K last summer. I thought that was a good deal - yours is better even if the car is mint.

Not sure on the $10K off of sticker. I have heard of people getting that on orders or brand new vehicles. Which this one is, almost. But, you would be technically the 2nd owner so when you sell it then that is the third...

I am not sure the deal with CPO. The new car warranty transfers from the in-service date which is only three months??? Why care (maybe I am ignorant on this)?

I think you have to look at these deals holistically. I was happy with my trade in value so I didn't push for as big a discount as others have received. The whole deal seems pretty good to me - maybe try and get a few thousand more of the new one.
