And now ... the Rest of the Story!

As I posted earlier, a month ago I bought a CPO’d 2012 Carrera from the local dealer. Anthracite Brown/Luxor Beige, PDK, 20” wheels, Bose, and a few other options. I was blissfully enjoying my “new” Carrera. That is, until I saw a Boxster in Amaranth Red Metallic. It was love at first sight! (Not the Boxster, the color!). I knew right then that while I liked the Anthracite Brown, my Carrera had to be in that color. So after finally getting enough courage to ask the Mrs. (I had just bought the 2012 a month ago), I “pre-traded” and ordered a 2014 Carrera. However, in order to get the best possible deal, and take the least monetary “hit,” I had to give them my 2012 now, and patiently wait for the 2014 delivery in late July, early August (hopefully!). Here are my specs (base Carrera):

Amaranth Red Metallic
Luxor Beige Std. Interior
Deviated Carpet (Black)
PDK
Power Steering Plus
Sport Exhaust System
20” SportTechno Wheel
Mahogany Multi-function Steering Wheel
ParkAssist (Rear)
Bose Audio Package
Premium Package Plus
Power Sport Seats
Sunroof in Glass
Electric Folding Mirrors
Smoking Package
Model Designation “911”

Feel free to offer comments/suggestions, as I might have missed something that Ishould have considered. I did consider Sport Chrono, and decided not on "just" a base C2.

I’m pretty excited, and I suppose it’s going to be a looong four months.

Is the only mahogany piece in the car the steering wheel? What about platinum wheels or full leather?

You went for Power Steering Plus. Why is that? Have you tried it out yet? I have not is why I am asking. The current steering is quite smooth and easy not really needing the extra power.

Congratulations, you have courage! I would highly recommend Sport Chrono. I thought about not getting it, but did. I think you will find it will be worth the money.

Actually, the only reason was that it was on my '12 C2 that I just traded. And since I loved the car overall mechanically, I figured I'd just keep the Power Steering Plus on the 2014 for the $270.

Thanks for the input.

Fair enough. It's not a big cost, you're right. Either way I think you'll love the new car in the color you want.

Enjoy!

The Sport Chrono was the option that I spent the most time trying to decided on. I had it on a '08 C2S and a '10 C2S. I never used it. Never used sport plus, or launch control. Never tracked. Although, while I was considering a '14 C2S, the Sport Chrono was still definitely a main option. When I decided that the base Carrera would be fine for me, I decided I just didn't want it.

I know the Sports Chron is a popular option, and I'm keeping an open mind about adding it. I still have a fews weeks before the build cut-off date.

Thanks for your input.
