Arrrrrrguhhhh!

Bad news is that i scraped up the front driver's side wheel, good news is that I sprung for the tire and wheel insurance.

It was just over 1300; 5 years of tire, wheel, body ding, window chip, key replacement, towing and other stuff coverage.

Wow, was that easy to do. I misjudged a narrow entry into a bank drive up and presto, boom, scrunch and scrape, the wheel was damaged. Submitted the claim, dealer will take care of it for me.

This was the first speciality/warranty type insurance I ever bought as I believed and still believe they are overpriced and not generally worth the cost. I convinced myself to buy it as the wheels on this car are really expensive to replace.

Notwithstanding my low opinion of insurance companies, the fact that I had the coverage was strangely soothing. Although the benefit (probably would have cost about 500 to fix the wheel) is less than the cost, the fact of the coverage was calming - i didn't freak out that I damaged my car, not even a little bit.

Hmm, are you sure that it covers those scrapes - I thought it only covers road damage caused by pot holes etc, not by driver error. Maybe different type of coverage have different fine print and you're covered?

Sorry man, glad you got it covered. That's something I passed over and am expecting to regret it someday

Oh yeah. Covers scrapes. I read the policy and spoke with the rep. More important, I read the policy before I bought it.

You always should insist on getting the coverage specs before buying a policy. Don't rely on the slick ad the dealer gives you.

+1 for this insurance. I've said it before, I think it's a great deal. I've already gone through three rear tires with no cost for replacement.

The other warranties, paint protection, leather color protection, bleh not worth it.

Same.. I have it for the Cayenne. This was my understanding unless you have a different coverage.

I used the insurance I bought with the C2S last month, when I had a flat tire.

It covered a P-Zero up to $524, total cost at the Porsche dealer was $783 to change a tire....still a a good deal I guess....

I expect to be using my coverage at some point as well. The roads here are terrible. When I purchased I also confirmed that it covered scratches from driver error. Potholes were my main concern though.
So far I have heard the process is painless and pretty straight forward so I'm hoping the pat will be my experience as well.

Do all Porsche dealers use the same 3rd party insurance company?

I was quoted $1,500 for five years coverage, and they said I had to purchase it when I was picking up my car.

When I purchased I was told there are 3 different levels as standard and my dealer had another level. Can't remember what the first three were called but the 4th had something about Gold level in the name. Can't speak to the differences but m package is supposed to cover just about anything that can happen to a tire or wheel. I'll have to go home and pull out the info for specific language.

Man I feel ripped off now... They charged me like $1350 for the tire and wheel insurance for only 2 yrs. No coverage for the rest of the car at all.

To repair a scratch on a wheel is about $100....and it'll look like new.
