Getting a 991

Im getting my first 991 in a week. This is my first porsche and I was wondering if i should get a clear bra film installed on my car (Front hood, and bumper). I have never put a clear bra on any cars I have owned. Anyone know if i should get it done through my porsche dealer. I was wondering if after the clear bra is installed can you still clean the car and wax it?

Do a search on this topic as there are numerous threads on it. The short answer is yes and yes. I did mine and could not be happier. The key is to find a very good installer who will wrap the edges of the film. I used Xpel Ultimate and am very pleased with the quality of the product.

I didn't like the half hood because of the line. I did the bumper, headlights, mirrors, and rear wheel fenders and haven't regretted it.

Like DBYT said, there are lots of threads on so do a search.

Find a local installer for Xpel. Dealers merely mark up the price and add no value.
Get a full hood fenders, bumper, mirrors, fog and headlights.
Well worth it and can still be polished.

Do the entire hood and find an installer who has the ability to laser cut. Many will cut the film on the car. If and when it is time to remove the film, well, there might be some marks in your paint.

Laser cut? Never heard that one before. I guess that is the latest technology?

I'm guessing by laser cut he means having the machine to cut the proper size for each vehicle via computer.....when having my 430 spider done I wanted the front fenders (1 piece for BOTH fenders) 1 piece instead of 2....not all installers have a large enough machine to cut bigger pieces.

But even with that machine theres always detail work with a razor.

Yes this is true. It minimizes large cuts in the clearcoat wherever you apply film; as opposed to some detail cutting in hidden corners.

I was like you OP, getting my first Porsche last week, and I decided to go with Xpel full front bra. This was the first time I ever put a bra on a car because it does seem a little unusual coming from Europe where it is not common place. The reason I decided to go for it was because I will be tracking my car once I get past the run in period. So far so good with the bra and I really don't notice it.

It is also important to get a recommended installer because I have heard of some nightmare scenarios.

Good luck and congrats on the 991, I know you are going to have fun...
