Launch control question

The other day I was at the dealer and tested launch control in one of their cars for the first time. There was a distinct smell after for quite a while. Does the PDK normally smell after using launch control on the broken in cars or was it engine cosmoline because this one was new?

I have no unusual smell after using launch control. My car has not yet reached 2K miles either.

PS This was an S and I also tried the mini launch control where you just put your foot down fast and the RPM went to the same point as my base (3700) on take-off

Any unusual smells after a launch usualy originate from the passenger...

I use my mini launch control on my base all the time and have no smell with mine, but the S I drove got it right after the launch control and lasted several miles after that.

Maybe post the VIN of that car...... clearly the 2K break-in has been shortened a bit

Edit - I was only kidding..... (sometimes its tough to tell on the net)

I remember mine smelling a little odd a few minutes after using it. Like burning rubber/oil. I thought it was odd since there was barely a chirp when it launched.

Exactly! I'm not sure how they manage to not spin the wheels.

my 991 c2 gave off a similar smell after driving hard for the first thousand or so miles. Break in? No I did not do that. Was told oils and such on the engine were burning off and it was to be expected. I really was not concerned as I leased

Has anyone that has used launch control ever checked the g-force gauge after launch? If so what was your negative longitudinal g-force recorded? Better than .78?
