Hi, I have left Porsche for a while and gone with AMG but after two years I realized I need to get back to a 911!
I am looking at a C4 with sport exhaust and a C2 without PSE. I am not looking for the faster car but really want a best sounding car. When I test drove the C4, it sounded awesome! Even with less power.
Question to you all is, is the C4 actually sounded better even with less power than the C2? I put both in the sport mode when I test drove them. Thanks in advance.

 

I would get a C2S over a C4, regardless of the options. PSE on the 3.4 does sound better than the 3.8 without PSE. You can always add on the PSE later for around $3200.

 

I second that notion. 50 more horses will indefinitely be more worth it than sound alone. Although I for one am a big "sound" guy and believe power an exhaust note should go hand in hand, if those were the only two choices, it's really a no brainer- c2s. And just fyi, sport or sport plus mode gives you a deeper note even without pse.

 

C4 with pse. No need for S. You'll be underwhelmed gruntwise by both after amg.

 

Get the C2S and buy an aftermarket exhaust.

 

400 horses will ALLWAYS sound better than 350!!! Get the C2S and an aftermarket Fabspeed exhaust. I had one in my previous 997 and it sounded great.

 

C2S for the higher torque figures, no need to go fast to notice it kicks harder down low, feels better arround town.
PSE is something you can always get later.

 

Sound has nothing to do with hp. Look at Honda s2000 engine with only 240 hp, it sound glorious in the upper rev range !

Thanks for all the feedback. I would agree that having the AMG, I will probably be happier in an S. Next question is should I go with a C2S or C4S. I will go and test drive again. Currently there is a 2013 C2S that has 2100 miles with original MSRP of 133k, the dealer is listing it at 123k. I know that is too much but what do you guys think the fair price is? It is a very nicely equipped car, I am tempted to work something out on that one with them.

Second question - Now I know that PSE can be added later, is that something that others have done and the retro fit would be exactly the same as factory?
