With the gas money you save:

I recently discovered that in PDK cars, if you are in 7th gear, you can "force" the ECU into coast mode by upshifting manually (on the wheel or center console).

I've often found that the car is in 7th gear when I wish it were coasting instead. I find this trick especially useful when you've just accelerated aggressively on the highway, and the PDK things you're now in an aggressive driving mode, so stays in gear. Instead, you can take advantage of the momentum by upshifting into coast.

Personally I bought the car to be a sports car not to be gas consumption conscience. I use Sport + in the city and Sport on the Highway 99% of the time. Coasting is not something I'm into at all.

Fair enough. I'm in the same mindset when possible but when I'm on certain heavily patrolled highways, especially for longer stretches, I'd rather bring the RPM's down as low as possible and enjoy the XM Radio than listen to the exhaust drone (then once in a while when the visibility is great I'll open it up WOT).
Personally, I don't use Sport Plus outside the track. I think it's overkill plus I like the sound of the PSE shifting in Sport better.

Sport + in auto mode is a wildcat. Way too aggressive on the street for me if there's any traffic.

Thanks for the tip.

Great tip!! I've always wondered if this was possible.

I'll definitely be using it to and from the track

On long trips I sometimes get into exploring the efficiency end of the 991s broad performance spectrum. The number gets mind boggling for a car loping along at look out for the fuz speeds. The problem is that watching the number creep up I don't want to slow down and speed up. So I end up passing too many rest stops and...

You are my hero! I feel quite antisocial already in Sport on city streets. Need to work on those stupid guilt feelings... Never tried Sport Plus in 25mph zones.

I enjoy this coasting mode also and find myself using it all the time since I'm manually shifting most of the time anyway.
