Sport Mode - interesting behavior

Normally, during normal driving, when I push the sport button, I hear the change from normal to sport: symposer kicks in, etc.

Today, I pushed the sport button while the engine was still cold. I was sitting at a stoplight at the moment that the engine oil temperature finally moved out of the blue "cold" zone. I immediately heard the symposer cut in.

I guess Sport Mode waits to engage until the engine is warmed up enough.

Interesting. If that's the case, I'd rather they let us just start in sport mode, instead of defaulting to normal. I always switch to sport after oil warm-up, but doing so manually gets annoying.

I have been normally waiting until it is warmed up to switch it on, but now I'll just push the button after turning the key and releasing the parking brake. Just becomes another part of the startup process.

I have been told that switching to Sport or Sport + mode before car is fully warmed up (oil temperature 165'F or even higher) will delay warm up as the switching opens up more cooling (so to speak). I always do it manually at around the 165' to 170' oil temperature range.

I agree. It's part of my start-up routine too. I also wish the default would be sport mode.
