jlee504 is infamous around these parts
Same here, I'm in the market for a Carrera S Cab...dealers seem to have a fair amount of inventory and are clearing the way for 2014s in September. They came off 7% without even trying.

How much more is there?
Thanks in advance.

Jeff

That sounds like a nicely optioned car. Let us know if and when you get it. You also have to provide photos else you must clean all our tires by hand.

You have the opportunity to challenge both ATL Dealers to give you the best price. Neither Ellis nor Hennessy want you buying from the other guy. Use them to your advantage. I have dealt with both dealers, both are good, but I have found Ellis is usually slightly more aggressive with their pricing. Also consider Chattanooga Porsche, they are also interested in making inroads into ATL market. Problem is if you have your heart set on a particular car at a certain dealership they have you trapped. If it isn't a deal you are comfortable with, you have to be willing to walkout on them.

very nice suggestion but you should be able to get the same deal whether one on the lot or order one.

7% if you order, 10% on one on the lot with some miles.

The markup on a 991 is approx 11 percent . A 2013 car is nearing the model year end and if the car happens to be platinum (or another color which is being replaced ) it's even more leverage .

In my opinion 7-9 percent off ought to close the deal (depending on region and the desireability of that specific car) . It depends if you are a repeat customer in good standing planning to service the car there Vs an out of state purchase . They would rather retain you in service if they can .

Unless Porsche is very different from other car mfr's, chances are the factory is giving dealers financial incentives so as to move inventory, so their normal 11% markup is just the beginning of the money they make. There's no way they can give a 10% discount and manage to be profitable on the 1% left so they are making money even at 10% off, rest assured.

They might give 10 percent if the car is poorly optioned in an unpopular color at the end of the month . In fact I can think of a few cars which have sold at cost after a dealership got stuck with it for long enough.

Realistically though .. 7-9 percent .

Sorry but this is not the case at all. There are not any incentives on any of the cars. Porsche is different from other manufacturers in the sense that they control inventory. By the time the 2014s start arriving the 2013 will be slim pickings.

I can't believe that a Porsche dealer can make any money at all if all they are making on the same of new cars is 11% assuming they sell all cars at MSRP. Yes they make $$ on service and used cars but they have to make more then 11% on new.

Check the invoice/MSRP (Edmunds) . It's approx 11 percent .

They don't make that much on each car but they also finance and lease, make money on the used end too (trade in , CPO) plus they sell other Porsche models so it's not just one 911 car sale that comprises a dealership profit .

wonder if Porsche dealers get dealer kickbacks/incentives like other ones do. So basically, they still make money off of "their" cost from Porsche.
