20K service done, engine fan runs after switch off.

Got my car back after my 20K miles service. My 991 C2S is one of the earliest 991 cars, delivered to me in Feb 12. As usual they did some campaigns and software updates this time. I have stopped asking about them. But one thing I immediately noticed after getting car back is that the engine fan now runs for a few minutes after engine switch off and car locking. The fan sound is quite noticeable. I imagine it is to ensure the engine is properly cooled off. Does any one with newer cars have this? I have never had this happen except immediately after my 20K service.

My car does this after I turn it off. I just assumed it's normal so the car continues to cool down...I think the cayman does it too? Unless I'm imagining things.

My Panamera does this too. It depends on the ambient temperature outside, if it's too hot, the additional engine cooling will run till the computer finds it safe to turn it off.

My 2013 has been doing that for the last few days with temps near 90 after driving in sport mode.

Yep, expect it when it's running hot. You can expect to hear after a good track run also. Think of it as a horse with its mouth open gasping for breath, after a brisk ride.

This is totally normal not only on 991 but 997 as well after tracking or spirited driving on hot days.

Actually I think I remember reading it has a 2 stage system where it turns on both fans when very hot and 1 fan when it is a little hot.

This is normal (especially if driven hard in a hot climate).

I realize it is normal. My point is that I can swear my car never did this until I got it back from my 20K service. And I do of course live in a hot climate, but it never happened till now. Now I can hear the very noticeable fan sound almost every time I switch off the engine.

did you get any software updates with your service? If so, that probably changed it.
