I keep seeing alternating posts from Honda introducing 8 new bikes and eBay introducing a contest for a free GT-R. Am I the only one seeing this spam? Where are the mods and why is this permitted?

 

I don't know if it is targeted advertising because of other sites you have visited but I haven't seen anything like what you are experiencing

 

I see the same posts for honda and ebay.

 

Mods? Where are you? We've been invaded by outsiders who have no business making posts here. Please take control.

I'm not sure if there is anything the moderators can do except bring this up to IB.

If you look at the posts being made, these are not actual accounts. If you click on the member name, it doesn't bring up a member account. They are listed as "Sponsored post." This would suggest they are ads that a third party have paid to IB to have permission to post here.

The sponsored posts have no accounts to ban and moderators can't remove them. Similar to the google ads that you see on the top of the forum, it appears someone has paid to have these ads placed on the forums.

I can bring it up to IB, but I doubt that any can be done immediately. Certainly, asking where the mods are won't end the issue any faster as this is a decision made by IB not the moderators.

 

well, I will certainly do everything I can to put a stop to it...right now I am p.o.ed that this would be done without any warning or notification to myself or any of the moderating staff...we have worked very hard to confine classifieds to the marketplace or the vendor areas so the regular forums would be free for discussion and the exchange of information...whenever I have complained to IB I have been told "the forum belongs to the members and should be run accordingly"...but then something like this pops up...(btw all of your mods and admins are member volunteers...we are not paid by IB..we are members first)...damn...I hate this kind of crap

I was in contact with IB Nolan who said there was a software update that changed settings. I think it is fixed now. Anyone still seeing the ads?
