MSCHWA3439 is infamous around these parts
991 cabriolet roof malfuntion

I HAVE A 3 MONTH OLD 2013 C4CAB..2 DAYS AGO THE ROOF FAILED TO OPEN. ERROR MESSAGE FLASHED "FAULT OF THE SOFT TOP CONTROL SYSTEM". DEALER HAS HAD IT FOR 2 DAYS AND CANNOT ISOLATE THE FAULT. ANY THOUGHTS ???

I had this happen in May. Drove directly to dealer. They immediately checked it out and found that it was a control sensor near the top locking mechanism. Ordered that part overnight and all has been good sense then. My C2S can is an April 2012 build.

i had a similar issue w/ my 997.2. it turned out to be a senor in the window. Basically the roof would not close because the car thought the window was not lowered all the way.

Just got car back after 3 days. Finally identified the problem with the windscreen sensor. Apparently, even though the wind screen was down, the roof sensor did recognize it as been in the locked position and allow the roof to lower. nevertheless, sensor was readjusted and now works fine. Whew.
