Dash911 is infamous around these parts
Yes - I have ordered a Graphite Gray 50th Anniversary with manual gearbox, Sport Chrono and heated seats. In Australia it is well priced and I can get a 50th Anniversary to my specs for the same price as a similarly optioned Carrera 2S.
As a bonus, over the Carrera S, I get the wide body, cool houndstooth cloth seat inserts (which I really like) and what I think is a great unique colour.

I was getting the Anniversary edition... Ordered it and canceld it again after seeing it in person.

But it still is a very nice car though. Just not exactly what I wanted.

I agree with what he said. There is no real benefit in getting the 50th anniversary edition unless it has the look/options you wanted and you were already planning on ordering something similar, with a small benefit of the widebody and houndstooth interior. The packaging doesn't save you any money over a similarly equipped C2S.

FWIW, I ordered/purchased a 997.2 black edition a couple of years ago and it worked out to be a better deal - it again had the options I wanted, but it also came with a $6k discount vs. if I had ordered the options through the normal configurator.

More and more these 'special editions' are anything but special as Porsche releases them all the time. While I think that the 50th anniversary is a significant milestone, I'm not sure that this car they have released is that special/significant. I can't see this being a car that is highly sought-after.

BTW - I am on my dealer's list to order one

Don't forget the extra 30 HP, PSE, Sport Chrono, etc. from the included X51 package. That's a bit more than a "small benefit".

I didn't forget - the US price includes that package - they are certainly not including it for free. A comparably equipped C2S with the X51 package will cost the same as the 911 50th.

The X51 package is not included in most of the world except US and Canada I believe.

I had that choice and it was a no-brainer for me: I ordered a C2S.

I've followed Suzy's dilemma and I'm holding to my original plan for the 50th. You may want to read the other 50th thread in this and another forum for good information that Suzy and others provided.

I also ordered one and cancelled...

The fact is, it added cost to the Carrera S by including some options I didn't really care for. The price premium was not unreasonable (in my market) for the extras included, but a few of them were unnecessary.

If it wasn't for the additional 6-8 months waiting time (my car should be here in 3 weeks) I might have actually gone for it, but in the end (and especially after seeing what the colours really look like) I'm really glad I didn't.

I will miss the 911_50 logos (I'm not ashamed to admit I like them splattered all over the car) and I will miss the wider body... but that is about it.

Spoke to my rep today about the 50th and looks like I have someone at my office taking my M5. I might back fill it with a 50th edition car. Allocation is still available but I need to let them know ASAP. The car is cool, super cool! I added a few nice options and this one looks to be a keeper as 7MT! Might put about 10k kms a year at most - too much?
