squeaky brakes at slow speed

New to me 2012 C2S 14000 km, noticing a small squeak at low speed in front brakes. This can't be normal?

There is a recall to replace break pads. I have a 2013 built in July 2012 and it is part of the recall. Haven't had them replaced yet. Will when I have my 1st service, which should be soon. Coming up on a year in September. Just crossed 2K miles.

Does anyone have any additional information on the recall? I am going to give my dealer a call about the squeaking and would love to be armed.

I started a thread on the same topic a while back. I had the recall performed on my car (details in thread) and there are other remedies recommended by folks in the thread.

Hi Guys

It is normal. I have the same thing and called my dealer. In fact, if you look at your manual. I believe it is the Q&A one. It states that this squeaky noise is normal due to the brake pads and rotors they use.
I was told that it is the brake dust that got on the rotors that causes this. You can speed up and do a hard stop/brake to get rid of it.

2014 991 with 1400 miles - a real squeakmobile. Tried the hard braking from around 40 a few times. Squeaking came back. Will try the 60 mph to 5 mph hard braking 10 times that I saw in an earlier thread.
Dealer says bring it in but I'm not sure what they can do.

They will do the same thing (or apply that compound on the back plates). But they'll make you feel good about it.

If you want stopping power that exceeds others in this segment, you need more aggressive compounds. They make noise.

Here is the thing, for some - braking hard isn't necessarily braking HARD! Heat cycles guys. Warm them up a bit. Those squeaks are your brakes yelling at you for not using them.

Mine squeaks occasionally when getting close to a complete stop. Doesn't squeak otherwise. About 5,600 miles.

I have January/13 production 991S - got a squeak last month braking in reverse the day after washing the car. Have PDK, drove around the block with one foot on gas and one on brake pedal (lightly). Squeak is gone and hasn't come back. I think my squeak was just a little surface rusting.
