This is unacceptable. What is going on with Pirelli?

Not all of us have the skills of a Lewis Hamilton to save the car if it happens at highway speeds. I'm glad you're ok though.

They are also less expensive and are rated to wear 30,000 miles (8,000 more than P 0s).

Also, a second set of tires will save you a lot of grief. I had a relative drive me back home to get the winter set. Otherwise I would have had to tow it and miss work.

yes and no. the fine print provides that the 30k warranty is applicable if and only if the tires are rotated. we can't do that on this car.

will the dealer file a warranty claim w/ Perilli? I'd be interested in what they say.

If you decide to get the MPSS, I'd go w/ the wider 305's in the rear.

Note to self: Ditch the perilli condoms.

I was just looking at the wear rating for it compared to the P 0, not the warranty.

Well, the PSS are on the car. All I can say is wow, how come the car does not come with these in the first place? The car feels a lot more planted, and the tire noise is reduced by half. Well worth the upgrade, and they cost much less over time.

Just what I was waiting to hear!!!!! All's well that ends well. Did you have to pay for it all or did they compensate you for part of it?

I bought the PSS's myself from Tire rack, for $1300, the dealer put them on for $60. Then insurance credited me $550, which was the original cost of ONE Pirelli.

The insurance company is now going after Pirelli for the cost of the defective tire.

Unless it is found by inspection to be a bad tire (there are signs), it probably blew due to an inclusion in the sidewall caused by a pothole that you had hit sometime (days possibly) sooner. It will create a weak area in the sidewall that will eventually fail and blow out. Hard to say sometimes how it happened, but the tire was probably not defective. Nonetheless, it's good to hear insurance took care of it.

The blow out was parallel with the tread rather than perpendicular. There was no apparent damage to the tire other than the blowout. I have been real careful not to hit anything with this car. Hell, I haven't even taken it on the freeway yet.

Do you recommend the Pirelli's over the PSS's?
