Carrera S Tach Face

Oops, trouble distinguishing tach numbers from background in different lighting conditions. I think they should have kept the black background with white numbers. What are your thoughts?

It's not your aging eyes... I'm 25 and also have trouble distinguishing tach numbers from background with that grey dial. That's why I ordered mine in black
I haven't seen a proper HUD in a car yet, except the one from BMW in the recent 5 and 6-series. It would be a nice feature, if it was a good one. The one used by VAG is not a good one. Saw that recently in an Audi A7.

Two issues for me. I don't like that the tach is alum look and the other dials are black. Prefer the way they were in my 997 - all alum. If I had been aware of this, I would have ordered the optional free all black dials. Second issue is the glare on the tach. I don't know if it's any less with a black dial face but it is annoying on the alum face dial.
And speaking of annoying, the highly raked windshield results in some pretty major glare from the reflection of the dash center vents. Much more than the 997.

It's a feature on any Porsche S-model now. Boxster/Cayman, Panamera, Cayenne and 911. Fortunatly the 911 has the option to delete it and get the black dial. Unfortunatly the Boxster and Cayman don't have that option.
