DIY Sharkwerks Exhaust installation - 991 C2S
Thanks! Do you have a video of what the sound is like with a non PSE and Sharkwerks on a Carrera S? Would love to hear that if you have it, even if its not edited !!
In your video above, do you remember if the PSE button is engaged or off?
I'll get more video of it on a non PSE car. The three we've had here all have PSE. Must be a Norcal thing
!Thanks
Hi Kit - Thanks for posting this up! I've installed three of these exhausts now and have the process documented, including the brackets you had trouble with. They are much like any stock exhaust install or aftermarket that re-uses these brackets (they're difficult even on the stock muffler) if you have the same tools. Here's how I changed them:
Set each muffler next to its matching bypass pipe facing the same way / orientation, and change one at a time to be sure you don't mix them up:

Remove the nut from the mount and slide the bolt out:

It might help to tap it with a hammer if it's stuck.
Looking into the mount you'll see the reinforcement tube. I put a slotted screwdriver against this and tap it out next so there will just be the two stainless steel mesh inserts in the bracket left:

Gently pry with a screwdriver to remove the inserts:

Now for the re-installation... the stock tube should have been the same size (it is on the units I've tested here, we used the same metal stock for its construction), and even installing back onto this original tube is still tricky, but the process is the same. Rotate and push the mesh as you wiggle it into place. Once it's started you can push it in further with your hands (squeeze it in, while wearing gloves), it goes in pretty easy at this point if you continually rotate as you push:

Insert the reinforcement tube into the mesh and through before installing the other side (I did leave it in for this pic, but it popped out):

Note: you can also install one side of the mesh at the same time as the tube.
On the other side, with no mesh installed, make sure the tube is approximately centered and pushed to its approximately required depth:

If it's lined up, you can twist and push as you did on the first side. Squeeze the two sides together by holding the opposite side with your hand (wearing gloves!) or it will pop out:

Once you get them both far enough in, you can pull the bracket back into place, line up the holes, push the bolt through the reinforcement, and tighten it up.
If it wasn't centered or pushed all the way in yet, it will once you tighten it up.

I installed this exhaust on a Carrera S this morning and these brackets took about 5-10 minutes for all 4.
