car won't start
car won't start
I went out to run an errand this evening and when I tried to start the car after dropping something off at a friend's house, it would not turn over. The lights and everything are working but I got a boost from a friend anyway; still no dice. Car just isn't turning over. I've got more than 3/4 of a tank of gas. Luckily I was parked in a legal spot. I'll leave the car there over night and call Porsche roadside assistance I. The morning. Pretty aggravating!
You must have been right about it being a sensor. I went to the car this morning, keyed the ignition and it turned right over. Hopefully it was a freak thing. Thanks!
It is a freak thing....it happened to me on 4 separate occasions. I took it to the dealer twice, never found a thing. It hasn't happened in a few months now, car is a year old. Is your car a MT? One thing I noticed was that sometimes I thought I had the clutch all the way depressed, it wasn't, and I could jam it in further. Now I don't think that is what happened at those 4 times, but it is interesting that the car never acted up for anyone at the dealership.
Yes, my car is a MT. I was sure I had the clutch pedal pressed all the way down (like every other time I start the car) but maybe not. My dealer suggested I get it checked out, but I'm fairly "confident" they will be unable to replicate it at the dealer. I've never had this with any other MT cars I've owned.

Ironic...it hadn't happened again to me in the last few months before today! Immediately on the heels of this thread... Clutch wasn't the issue as I suspected, that was just an observation I had made after the fact trying to diagnose the problem. Every time it has happened to me, including today, if I step out of the car and let it sit for 5 minutes and try again it will start. I agree it's some kind of sensor, but it's really hard when it will never act up for the dealer.
