Pirelli tires thread life

Has anyone run through a set of tires on their 991 under normal non-track driving yet? How many miles were you able to get out of the rears? Is the thread life similar to the 997 where the replacement cycle was roughly chaging the rears twice for every time the front needed to be changed. Anyone change to the Michelin Supersports? and if so did you keep the pirelli's in the front?

thanks

I'm expecting at least 20,000 out of mine which is consistent with the 220 rating (22,000). I would keep them at a relatively high pressure setting because the outsides are going to run out sooner than the middle if you don't as there's less tread depth there.

If you do - don't publicize it. I've tracked my car once for around 20 laps and I'll be lucky to get 11,000 out of the rears....

No burn outs. Its just that the WHOLE car operates from the rear suspension. The rear tires are the life blood of a 911. If you don't use the rears...you're not using the car. To each his own. Any criticism is purely constructive.

Rear camber setting (-2) causes more wear on the inner part of the rear tires. This is suppose to happen if you want the most in terms of handling an performance. I have found the ratio of 2 to 1 (rear to front) has been consistent on all my Porsches I never got 20K miles from the rear tires. Usually 8-10K is normal for the rears

Mine are looking good at 16k miles. I am guessing ~20 k before replacing.

I had to change (screw in tire tread) one tire two weeks ago. At 4,700 miles the other rear tire still had 5/32 left. I don't track, DE, Auto X but do drive the car in a "spirited" manner. I'm expecting to only get 8-9,000 miles on rears. Car has PDCC (Sport Techno wheels with of course 305's on rear. Sticker price on 305-20 P0 in Canada is $1,090 each! Porsche dealer was very kind and charged me not much more than cost plus freight from Tire Rack would be.

Tracking uses up the tires quickly. Sometimes I've thought about going out there for a few laps myself so I can switch to Michelin.

My sentiment exactly. I have retired from tracking and do less and less of the sort of hooning that wipes away tread because I drive the 991 so much more than my previous 911s. In fact, I am eyeing the Michelin SuperSport AS3s as a replacement, if they are available, to be more secure at winter temps. They are reputed to handle as good as the competition's summer sport tires.

Proper inflation, PDCC and awd should help with even tread wear. I'm hoping to get what both monsieur Chucks have said...

The car is surprisingly very easy on its tires at the track, much better then previous generations.

Porsche did a very impressive job with the rear suspension and geometry.
