SPASM & SportDesign ?
SPASM & SportDesign ?
My car is going to have both the SPASM and SportDesign Package. I have searched and found conflicting answers on front end ground clearance. I read someone say 4.5" and another said 6.25". I can't make heads or tails of what the truth is.
Also, I'm assuming with SportDesign fascia, you don't get the extra spoiler from SPASM (the black one that protrudes out). Is this correct? Does any one have this combo?
Thanks in advance!

The SD bodywork replaces the Sport PASM bodywork. The Sport PASM suspension changes remain. The SD front fascia is shaped differently from the standard front fascia and has a unique replaceable lower spoiler.
An aftermarket fixed lowering kit plus alignment is the same price as Sport PASM. A good strategy if buying off the lot. There are aftermarket adjustable kits too for more cash. TechArt makes an adjustable lowering and front end lift kit for much more cash. Save some cash for the adjustable kits, by nixing Sport PASM if going that route.
Personally for me, the Sport PASM makes the 911 visually more appealing with or without SD. The visual effect of Sport PASM can be see using the online 3D configurator.
The 4.x numbers are with the car payload maxed out. The 6.x number is with the car sitting as is including options and spring choices. Hard to say what the real ground clearance is since there are many combination of options and spring choices. Then add the weight of people and cargo.
4.5 inches is 114 mm
6.25 inches is 159 mm
The C2 Coupe (lightest curb weight) minimum ground clearance at max payload is 122 mm.
The C4S Cabriolet (heaviest curb weight) minimum ground clearance at max payload is 113 mm.
FYI, the new 991 GT3 has a front axle lift kit which may trickle down to the base models for, I'm sure, a significant price.

I have both sport PASM and the sport front fascia.
Don't know what the ground clearance is but I have much less trouble with scrapping the bottom than I did with my 08 C2S cab which didn't have either of those features.
The front end of the 991 doesn't hang over the front tires near as far as with 997.

Both very useful posts, thanks guys.
LotF, I'm assuming the measurements you cited are for SPASM Sport Design cars? Where did you get this info?
And this "unique replaceable lower spoiler" you speak of, is it painted body color or similar to the SPASM spoiler (black plastic). I'm guessing that trim along the bottom of the Sport bumper is what you're referencing, but I'm not sure.

Perfect, thanks.
That's not too low.
How's it over speed bumps, etc?
I've got a great driveway, but I worry about being out in the "wild" with speed bumps, etc.
Beautiful car BTW--I almost did white

I run mine daily with no issues whatsoever! Even multi storey car parks with my wife, 5 year old daughter and a full shop in the front wasn't an issue!

But it does look damn low in that pic
The following page link contains the the types of replacement spoilers:
Suncoast Parts replacement spoilers
Click on each part for a description. The SD spoiler replacement is under the Aerokit spoiler replacement part.
The following link is a PDF file in German that contains minimum ground clearances information. Pages 102 and 103. Bodenfreiheit is the German word for ground clearance.
Porsche 911 Preistliste
The minimum ground clearance is the ground height with the car fully loaded to maximum payload.
The overhang of the SD front end is going to be a bigger issue for steep surface transitions like driveways and parking garages.
