I just had PSE installed on my base Carrera at my local dealer ... it sounds great, of course.

However, I noticed this morning that it only works in Sport or Sport Plus mode regardless of the switch position. In other words, if you are not in Sport or Sport Plus, you can press the button all you want and the light will go on or off but no burbles and crackles for you.

Is that how it is from the factory?

I am in Sport mode 90 percent of the time anyway, but if my wife is in the car I leave it in regular so the downshifts are not so ... well, sporty. Less violent. LOL

But I still want to hear that PSE.

 

it's not programmed correctly. i too had a pse added to my car and it the button and pse works in non sport mode

 

Hmmm, thanks for the response ... interesting. Anyone else? An owner who has it from the factory says he doesn't hear any difference unless it's in Sport or Sport Plus. I wonder if it can be reprogrammed.

 

come to think of it, it was not until i had the pse for about 2000 or so miles until it "blossomed" into the noisy beast that I enjoy. It does not develop the full wonderful sound until the oil is at least 150F, however.

 

Okay, I guess I have to go for PSE now. After 10,000 Miles, I find myself driving with the roof open to hear the engine more. If I buy it on Suncoast, how much would be a normal installation charge from a Porsche dealer? Anyone can share?

 

it depends. 5-7 hours of labor for an S model. 9-11 hours for a base.

I have a base, and it cost 700 because that's what my dealer quoted...they ate the rest of the cost when they discovered their error. very considerate.

C2 with factory PSE. Very noticeable difference in exhaust note in normal mode pushing the PSE button ! Very little burbles though !

 

I had PSE installed on my S Cab by the dealer, I can certainly hear the difference when in normal mode (deeper, louder, some minor burbles), but it's significantly different when I hit the Sport button. The non-sport burbles are hard to hear, I think I only get them because the top is down, which greatly enhances PSE.

 

PSE for me too.
It have to work in ALL modes.

Mine works in NORMAL, SPORT and...of course SPORT PLUS MODE.

Your PSE has to work regardless of mode u use.

Often, with later install, they have to change central button console (as they did for me).

Ask your dealer!

 

I also have a Cab. The change in tone is noticeable in any mode but not quite as obvious in Normal mode. Significant burbles etc. only in Sport or Sport +.
