Sunroof in glass - YES or NO

Hi guys,

I'm finalizing my build of the C2S - two toned leather with dark blue metallic exterior, PDK, PASM, sport chrono are the major options. I'm trying to figure out whether I should get the sunroof or not - I will use the car as a DD, no plan to track at all.

Living in the PNW so not much sun at all. Any issue with the sunroof that you know of - what about overall car rigidity, etc...

Thanks

Yes glass. It really lets a lot of light into the interior, and makes it somehow bigger inside.

I love my glass sunroof; It looks great from the outside and crates a spacious effect on the inside when the shade is open; there have been no problems as of yet.

You will love it in PNW! I would not order if I lived in Texas, Florida, etc. though due to heat. Would never order sunroof in these areas period.

It's a personal choice, but I don't particularly like the way the black roof chops up the visual of the flowing roofline. I chose a sunroof on the 991S for it's resale value more than anything, and I got the standard no-glass version.

I suppose I'm not a real sunroof guy, anyway. I've owned a 9934S for 10 years and probably only had the roof open three times. And I never used the sunroof on my Cayman S.

Definite yes. Love how the black glass top contrasts with paints other than black. Looks great IMO. Plus it does let in a lot of sun, much better than the small opening of the metal sunroof.

Absolutely YES! I live in the PNW too and I think it's the PERFECT place to have the glass sunroof. Not hot enough like SoCal where you'd have to use the sliding screen. You need all the light you can get in these parts, as you know.

If you're ok without perfect solid roof with some light shining through 100% of time go for it - not my cup of tea .. Both aesthetically and functionally. Again it's JIMO.

I choose the regular sunroof as I have a white car, and I absolutely hated how the dark colored glass sunroof looked on white. Now it blends perfectly with the lines of the car.
I do not like the glass roof with its different color, escpecially in the llighter color cars. I like clean looks, and mixing up colors is definitely not clean looking. Only color you can get away with a glass sunroof is a black car in my opinion.
But it's only my opinion. Everyone has different tastes. So just choose what YOU want !

I have a glass roof in my c4s and my car is black - my only concern is the fabric used both sun blocker and wind blocker - will they stand the test time .. with that said, I've never kept a car longer than 36 months any way

I am not a big fan of sunroofs. I've had them on many cars (Corvette, Mini, BMW). Usually it was included because it was part of a package I wanted for all the other options. As a stand alone option, I think the only aspect to consider is the light that you will get into the car from it. If you have to have a very bright cabin then get it. My biggest concern would be the potential for rattles that sometimes accompanies a sunroof.
