Garage AC or Not?

What are your thoughts about Air Conditioning the garage? I live in South Florida so the heat and in particular the humidity can be brutal...not to mention the heat thrown off by both the 4S and twin turbo V8 after a ride.

I do store some items that would prefer less humidity but, not critical. I RARELY if ever work in the garage so, I spend very little time there. I do have a refrigerator for excess cool and frozen storage.

The goal would be to remove humidity (dehu's alone generate their own heat) and keep temp to around 78-80 degrees via auto thermostat. Both cars are garaged and double door is basically only open for cars to get in and out (1-2 minutes...MAX is 30 minutes via auto close if I forget when I enter the house). Obviously, heating is not necessary (it's nice up north in the winter though!)

It looks like a mini-split or the like would be a good option for garage use.

Are you cooled? If not, would you? Why would or wouldn't you? What kind of system(s) would you recommend?

I am building a house in houston now and I am putting a/c in one garage. Minisplit is easy install and has a remote control. Insulate the exterior wall and the garage door. Done.

Bid was $3675 for labor and the 16 seer Trane minisplit

I have a heated/cooled/insulated garage and can't imagine being without climate control. I have a separate household HVAC forced air unit in the attic space. That said, it's as much for my comfort as for the cars. I spend a lot of time out there.

In the winter here I keep the garage at around 50 degrees to keep the chill off them. But in summer, where it can get every bit as hot and humid as Florida, I only use the A/C when I am working out there. The cars never get hot enough for me to think there was any benefit in cooling them.

I live in Florida as well and I don't specifically have an ac vent in the garage. However, I do have two fans in the garage. I use the fans when I am working in the garage but the temp in the garage is always a lot cooler than the outside temperature even in summer. There is enough seepage into the garage from the house AC. Usually when the temp outside is in the 90's, the temp in the garage is in the low 80's. It is also a lot less humid in the garage unless I have the doors open for a long time.
