Confused about offset
Confused about offset
Hi Guys,
I'm looking into getting the Vorsteiner V-FF101 rim for my C2S. Want to keep same as factory with 8.5 front and 11 rear in 20".
I think the OEM offset for the factory wheels are 51 for the front and 70 for the rear.
So, my question is will the Vorsteiner fits on the car - what is its offset and how does this comes into play?
I've been reading for two days and still can't get a clear answer on this.
Thanks

The offset of a wheel is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the true centerline of the rim. A positive offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is positioned in front of the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This in effect brings the tire in to the fender well more. Conversely, a negative offset means the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the true centerline of the rim / tire assembly. This will cause the tire to stick out away from the vehicle.
To compare the effects of changing the offset and width of your wheels use the WheelOffsetCalculator Wheel Offset Calculator
Also consider going slightly wider w/ 9 and 11.5 w/ 305 out back

It is listed at "custom", hence the confusion - they will custom the wheel for you but I'm not sure what to list as the offset.
A 44F/56R would be super agressive and not something I would run.
However many like that look and run it.
The BBS CHR 20" runs:
49F/65R which is relatively conservative and somewhat proven.

That would be my recommendation.
Note they run 9"F/11.5"R wheel widths.
I would run that with 255-35 Front and 305-30 rear.
Sport Techno wheels are that same width.
Their offsets are 51F/68R so you would be real close to what Porsche uses, just slightly more agressive.
