Car Wash
Car Wash
Would appreciate opinions on whether Carrera S 20 inch wheels would be damaged by a brushless carwash. I have hardware in my back from spinal surgeries and can't wash the car myself and am considering this option to avoid the cost of paying for hand wash every time.

Shouldn't matter...it's touch less
Those tracks are scary.
However, on other 19" wheel cars, that I ran through tack systems, nothing happened.
Just check the track:
Is it taller than the tire sidewall? (ideally not)
Is it covered with plastic? (sometimes that plastic is broken and/or missing in places)
I'm not sure about our 20" wheels, but I will never find out.
My P car will only get stationary hand wash (no track systems).

Sorry to hear about your situation. You should look into local detailers around you that can do mobile washes. I would never take my Porsche to a carwash that can potentially damage so many things on such an expensive car. Not to mention, your paint will be hammered since the new 991 has softer paint.
I finally broke down and took my 2013 c4s to our local car wash. Brushless, but has single track to guide car. They measured width to make sure it would be okay. I watch them enter/exit. No problems so far on either side of rim (20 in sport design).
I personally use touch less without tracks.
I would not use any car wash that has tracks. Our local touchless does the car in stationary mode. Used it on my 996 TT until the time too much water got into engine compartment and took a week to get that sorted out. I have a local hand wash that does good job (no tracks, you drive it station to station) at $20 and our local detailer is only $25 for the wash.
Zelig, I use a waterless wash and microfiber. No waterspots. Gentler on the paint as a good system will have lubricants and surfectants that are less harsh than hard water. Maybe less time consuming or hard on your back. Check out Griots Garage (other sources as we'll) for a seat with rollers that enables you to move around the car without so much bending. I much prefer to do it myself in between regular professional detailing and would never trust the auto car wash.
