How long before we can get the new wheel?
I originally went with the sport wheel purely because I thought the MF wheel looked very out of place. (that would be ugly IMHO) Seemed like it belonged on a lexus not a sports car.
At the time I did wish for some MF controls.. And the stalk for controlling the MFD seemed like it would be cumbersome to use..
I have to say now though I don't really find myself missing the MF capabilities. It took a while to get used to the MFD Stalk instead, (I swear for the first week I ended up hitting the windshield washer stalk instead about 100 times!). Come on, admit it I bet everyone had the same problem at first..
But now I kinda like it (the MFD Stalk) and it's quick and I don't have to remove my right hand from the wheel to nudge it.. and I'm always flipping through different menus..
I'm also finding I'm using the paddles way, way more than I thought I would with PDK.. since I use them even in Auto mode to downshift quite often when slowing and always when there is a Prius right next to me....
I will admit, the one MF button I wouldn't mind having is something to flip through my audio station presets... since doing that on the PCM is kinda clumsy.. But I find myself using the MFD stalk for this purpose and it works pretty well...
So getting back to the new MF wheel in question.. Not sure I'd select that over the more current Sport wheel. Kinda clunky looking. So I'd place it somewhere between the MF wheel and the Sport wheel in terms of desirability.
And to be honest, I kinda like the MFD stalk and would want it anyway even if I had a MF wheel...
What I'd rather see is something that maintains the current sport wheel and simply adds a couple of small buttons without drastically altering the basic design of the wheel.
That said, I wouldn't be holding my breath for a new wheel for the '15s.. Doubt it is gonna happen..

I'm wondering the same.
I spec'd the sport design wheel on purely aesthetic grounds. While I would have liked to have the multi-function buttons on the wheel, I just didn't like the look of the plain wheel.
Paddles weren't important in my case since I have a 7MT.
This wheel seems to be the best of both worlds. I'm excited that it has trickled down from the 918.
I did a steering wheel swap on my RS4 years ago. I changed from the standard wheel to the wheel from a TTRS. The swap was easy and took maybe 30 minutes, while being VERY careful.
In our case (going from SD wheel to this) there might be an additional step of re-coding the car to let it know that there is a multi-function wheel.
We also need to confirm that the airbag in the new wheel will work properly with our cars.
Hopefully we can get our hands on these soon.

I have the SD wheel on my 991 but I actually liked the one on my Cayman better. Maybe because that one was Alcantra, but the one in the 991 looks a bit 'plasticky' to me. I like the SD wheel with the MF shown earlier in the thread.
MrOutside I agree with you the reason I did not opt for the sports design wheel was it looks cheap...It has a hollow plastic knock to the front of it too when tapped. The faux aluminum did not do it for me. At the same time the MF steering wheel i have works well functionally but isn't so pretty. I hope there are more options for my next 991 later this year.
