How long before we can get the new wheel?

I'm assuming the new 918-inspired Macan multifunction steering wheel will become available for other models. I really want it for my 991, I have the Sport Wheel mainly because of the superior paddle shifters vs. the weird buttons on the existing multifunction wheel.

I wonder how hard it will be to install. Any ideas?

Rob

I'm wondering the same.

I spec'd the sport design wheel on purely aesthetic grounds. While I would have liked to have the multi-function buttons on the wheel, I just didn't like the look of the plain wheel.

Paddles weren't important in my case since I have a 7MT.

This wheel seems to be the best of both worlds. I'm excited that it has trickled down from the 918.

I did a steering wheel swap on my RS4 years ago. I changed from the standard wheel to the wheel from a TTRS. The swap was easy and took maybe 30 minutes, while being VERY careful.

In our case (going from SD wheel to this) there might be an additional step of re-coding the car to let it know that there is a multi-function wheel.

We also need to confirm that the airbag in the new wheel will work properly with our cars.

Hopefully we can get our hands on these soon.

To change from Sport Design to any form of multi function wheel may also require some wiring to handle the other functions. Not just a wheel swap.

I doubt we will be able to swap unfortunately, I bet the difference in wiring is too much

Love it....If the Macan is showing up for 2015 maybe it will be an option across the Porsche Line up.

You'll need huge hands to hold that wheel properly. Looks out of proportions IMO.

Looks like a legitimate successor to our 991 Multifunction. I don't like the way our Multifunctions look; bulky, aging design. Hopefully this will make its way into future 911s.

Newer isn't always better, looks like Porsche completely ripped off the design from Mercedes.

I can't find that color combination on the Macan build. I only see black/red as a two tone option. Is this a future color combination?

Porsche was so stupid for not doing this in the first place. Their current design is an epic and total fail.

Very cool. I'm sure it's straight up swap with current multifunction wheel but NOT SportDesign ( multifunction stalk and all)...
