Carrera powerkit

Does anyone have this? I heard it's a rare option, but my question is how does it affect gas mileage, specifically on a manual transmission 4S? Thanks!

Try the search function and search for X51 in titles. There are a lot of threads where the powerkit is discussed.
The opinions on it vary a lot.

But to be honest... If you get good gasmilage with a sportscar, then you're driving it not hard enough

Yes. It affects 18k worth of gas mileage.

Real world, the benefits of the X51 are only realized at the top end. So if you're worried about gas mileage, the it's not for you since it'll only be of benefit near the top of the rev range.

Why can't answers be more like this when mileage questions come up?

The "you can't afford it" or other cheeky responses don't answer the question. It's not about paying $50 or $80--I don't drive 50,000 miles per year. Filling up the tank is a chore (like haircuts)...and paying even $5 more for it makes it that much worse.

Plus I'm a cheapskate, if I can save a little for the same result, why not?

If your a cheapskate you won't think the x51 is worth it. I drive both and didn't notice a difference thus didn't get it. It's not like throwing a turbo on.

I have driven both back-to-back and there is definitely a difference, Redline comes much sooner with the X51.

Speaking as the back in the quote above, I vouch for the observation. His X-51 revs faster than my poor old S. Added bonus: X-51 has a center radiator and is more efficient at collecting leaves.

I'm sure it's under rated as Porsche only claims .1s improvement in 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
It's got to be more than that
Someone needs to do an S vs PK match-up

While my X51 revs faster then the standard S, that doesnt mean it was faster then Chuck's S. Mine being a Cab and a 4S, has added weight which makes the "poor old S" still faster then my C4S X51. Probably all the extra leaves I collect with the center radiator opening doesn't help either .

There is no difference in idle or mileage.

The other thing to consider when adding a Power Kit is that with a few other options it makes the car too expensive to lease. I wasn't planning on leasing but looked into it briefly after I had added the Power Kit. The maximum amount that can be residualized is just shy of $120,000 on a C2S.
