What is standard 10k service for c2s and what's average cost?
Are upgrades to software automatic or do u need to ask. After reading some posts, it seems as if each dealer is different- some cutting edge others clueless.
Lastly, how do know what are the latest upgrades (or is this porsche myth) so u can at least sound intelligent when u stroke that service check.

 

$200. It's an oil and filter change. Don't worry about sounding intelligent or informed these guys work for you. A good service manager will explain what needs to be done.

I have a lot of miles on my 991 and I have found that the techs and service manager are always eager to ask me what's going on with the car. They seem to like working on a car that's being well used Then again I really like using the car.

 

Any thoughts on computer updates? Is this fact or myth? I've read conflicting posts on this topic. Some suggest they have asked about update campaigns while others note they were done automatically.
I guess I'd like to know if these are designed to improve performance or simply recall items and is there an active list of updates online to which one could refer.

 

Depends on your software version. You may or may not need an update. There are no super secret software updates. If your car needs it, it will get it. If you want to know if there is one for your car, just call the dealer. He or she will know. Performance upgrades? Perhaps. I did notice increased power after the last update but then again it may be in my imagination. The only change I really noticed was a software update which changed the coolant temp to a rock solid 194f from a wandering 190 to 210 temp.

If you are looking for a rocket ship computer chip upgrade there are tuners out there but I wouldn't know whether the EPROM flash will void the warranty. I'd stay away.
