Scraped entire underneath of 991

I just drove into one of those stupid car parks that has a strip of metal teeth that bend down when you drive over them, and they kindly scraped the entire underbody of my 991. It sounded awful... anything i should be worried about? I had a quick look underneath and cant see any damage. Car park is now on my 991 blacklist!

Here's a pic of the evil things: http://instagram.com/p/jlt3rAsUOS/

Holy s**t! That does not look good. Why do you have that in the US?
I would let porsche have a look at the underbody just to make sure.

It's in the UK.

Agree, have a dealer tech look at it. It's probably nothing.

Since they are spring loaded and should not have applied any real measurable force to the undercarriage, you should be good. I would run it in to your local shop and let them have a quick look just to be sure.

That really is unfortunate. i hope nothing got damaged. But I agree I would take it to the dealer and have them do an inspection. It would bug me until I got a clean bill of health from the dealer. Hopefully they are nice enough to do it for free since you will be taking it there for service etc in the future. GL

Thanks all for responses, i'm gonna take it down to the local porsche centre and get them to have a look.

The teeth are spring loaded - i could push them down with my hand with a bit of welly - but they pop back up as soon as your wheels are off them, hence they just dragged down the middle of the underside. And as they are designed to stop cars going out the wrong way, once you've started there's no going back so i just had to cringe and keep going forwards....

Do you have SPASAM?
Goround clearance seems to be more of a problem than people think.

It makes me want to get a GT3, just for the Front Axle Lift System.

Lesson learned for all of us...I'm just turning around and going somewhere else if I ever see something like this. I think it'd just be cosmetic though...gosh the speed bump with those things looks hideous!! Please keep us posted after getting it looked it...

I took this picture when I was installing the Laser Interceptor on my car and remember thinking to myself that there was not much to see. Just a bunch of plastic. Don't think you can damage much unless you scrape the door sills underneath.

You should be fine. Unless you heard a bit of scraping when your rear wheels were going over. Still get it checked when you can.

Yep, i have SPASAM. I scraped the front lip on a speed hump getting out of this hideous car park, and then did it again getting out of a petrol station 5 minutes down the road! i'm not too worried about the front lip though because it seems really tough. sounds awful when it scrapes the floor though!

SPASM front lip is reasonable, and easy to replace. I replaced mine after pressing it up against a low curb while parking. Curbing was too low for parking sensors to pick up. I learned quickly not to count on my parking sensors. Coincidentally, I was less than a mile from my dealership. Drove straight their and purchased a new SPASM lip for less than $200.00. It installs in 5 minutes. . . No tools needed. Although, I love the look of the Aerokit, this is why I didn't order it on my car. I'm way to OCD and like the idea of being able to replace a piece of standard, unpainted black plastic.
