Quote: I just drove into one of those stupid car parks that has a strip of metal teeth that bend down when you drive over them, and they kindly scraped the entire underbody of my 991. It sounded awful... anything i should be worried about? I had a quick look underneath and cant see any damage. Car park is now on my 991 blacklist!

Here's a pic of the evil things: http://instagram.com/p/jlt3rAsUOS/
The only places we have these are at Hertz. I think I would reverse out if I saw those.

Quote: Yep, i have SPASAM. I scraped the front lip on a speed hump getting out of this hideous car park, and then did it again getting out of a petrol station 5 minutes down the road! i'm not too worried about the front lip though because it seems really tough. sounds awful when it scrapes the floor though!
1) The undercarriage ought to have a plastic protection guard . It must have sounded awful but I think this is going to work out favorably for you . Hopefully it will be damage free upon inspection.

2) The lip is replaceable . If you scrape it often it may just have to be considered a "routine maintenance" event.

Try to remember to enter and exit at a diagonal, not straight in and straight out. That should help mitigate scraping entering general lots. ( so would a front lift!)

As far as those nasty metal teeth in the ground, the ones I've seen are all individually sprung- meaning, if you run over a few here and there, they all don't fold over accordingly, the ones not depressed by your tires stay up. Wicked design.

Quote: Lesson learned for all of us...I'm just turning around and going somewhere else if I ever see something like this. I think it'd just be cosmetic though...gosh the speed bump with those things looks hideous!! Please keep us posted after getting it looked it...
Ok, got it looked at by porsche centre and got a clean bill of health. Not a scratch! Phew! Apparently the underneath is a series of plastic plates which is why it sounds so horrible when scratched. They were looking to see if any of the smaller plates had been torn off, but thankfully not...

That's great news! There must be a standard that the designers must follow for materials for durability.

Glad to hear that these vehicles are not that fragile.
