I think the car is ugly. It looks like a Honda/Hyundai/Kia and the interior is outright repulsive to me, like a cheap rental car. But what makes me really hate it design-wise is the plastic fake air intake in front. Don't know why I am feeling so strongly about it. Maybe because there are so many on the road around here. I am curious how everybody will feel about it in a few years' time. Will it be the Cadillac Coupe de Ville or the 911? See http://www.paulgraham.com/design.html

Because, in the US, everything is bigger.

Hahaha

Well... There's certainly more space on the roads. They also own an F150 Raptor (to compensate the Tesla I guess LOL) and I would be scared to death, driving that thing around here on a narrow twisty mountainpass, yet I had no problem driving it around in the US. I actually really enjoyed it to be honest.... My first Pick-up experience ever

Yes, the americans are right, bigger is always better ;-)

Saw a documentary on Hittler's megatanks yesterday. One in development was called the MAUS. It used 1 litre of diesel every 30 meters. Why do I write this in a Porsche forum ? Well, the designer was doctor Ferdinand Porsche.

Hittler thought he could win the war with such a monster. But offcourse bigger was not better. No usefull mobility left with that size and weight.

Sailient detail. It had a diesel engine that provided current for the electromotors that propelled the thing up to 20 km/h. So there's your on topic hybrid tesla content ;-)

I don't feel quite as strongly negative as you do, but I'm guessing it will be remembered more along the lines of a Delorean. Interesting, lots of buzz, hype and considered trendy at the time.... (Although probably not financed via drug deals)

I'm curious to hear what actual owners thinks of it after owning it. I only saw one owner reply here.

What would real world driving distance be in the 95* California heat with ac blasting and the radio on? I ask cause my commute is long and would this EV be really convenient and money saving as it's suppose to be...

Wow comparing Elon Musk to John Delorean.......... That's funny

I can see the love it or hate it opinions. I like mine....is it a S550?? No and I'm glad it's not....I would have bought one if I wanted that.........

With the investment of putting free charging stations across the country I don't think he will be going under anytime soon....bwtfdik

Doubtful he will go the way of JD......

I think they will be bought before they go out of business......

Will be a cool topic to revisit in 2 or 3 years to see what's going on in the Tesla market...

Ok, sure, but the real question is what was the code for ordering deviated stitching?!

Not sure. The brand equity is not strong (even if they ranked high in one of the latest consumer reports) and none of their technologies is so unique that it would not be achievable by a large manufacturer. Big players will let them sink and the hire a few engineers and acquire the rights to a few patents. No need to pay for goodwill or assets they do not need.

BTW, it is true that there has not been a lot of feedback from actual owners. It may speak to the facts that, excepted for a passion for technology, there are not so many common traits between the 991 and Tesla owners? ... or simply not many Tesla owners at all?

For a sports car enthusiast, part of the thrill of driving is the sound from the engine. I couldn't get used to the Tesla with no engine noise. Handling, torque, acceleration are outstanding. Just need that engine noise or PSE sound.

+++ very timely.. As I'm getting used to my new c2s.. My thoughts have been just how much I love the engine sounds and rapping/gurgles when decelerating.. I never realized how much I liked it sounding like a beast..

I can't imagine driving something that sounds like a golf cart..

Interestingly enough, this is environmental programming (and at least a dozen other funny terms - situational behavior, etc...). The fact that we equate engine sounds to performance is a learned behavior. There will be a generational gap that cannot make that leap ahead (like those that hold on to their carburetors, etc...). The allure of Ferrari's engines (to me) is the sound (and to an extent, the relative performance). Everybody has that ideal 'sound' for that combustion engine which represents a symphony for the senses, stimulating our emotions to bond with the driving experience. But eventually, these triggers will be different, causing another type of bond that lends itself to real numbers instead of the sensation of numbers. Not bound by conventional torque curves or limited by current traction issues (which at the same time it makes cars safer, it can also make them faster for those who want to go), these electric cars have an opportunity to change our lives both on the track, and off of it.

I just wish the range and cost would level out a little.
