CPO worth the money?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2012 991 Cabrio. The car has 8,500 miles on it. The dealer offered to CPO the car for $2,500. I only drive the car about 4,000 miles during the spring and summer per year. The car has warranty until May 2016. I will likely only keep the car about 3 years. Is the CPO worth it for my low mileage driving? I know it will help resale, but not sure that I can recover this amount. Any thoughts on this? Is the $2,500 price fair?

Selling a car with warranty as opposed to selling one without will be easier. I would think you should see some or all of that in return.

I would CPO it. You can ensure the buyer of your vehicle that is still has a year of warranty left and they will be more confident in purchasing it.

CPO is probably the best extended warranty I have ever seen offered . 2500 is pennies compared to a major repair on an out of warranty car .

Worth it. Also what if you decide to keep the car longer than 3 years?

You're lucky. The CPO/Extended warranty is about $3,600 in Canada. I'm going to do it for piece of mind as I do plan on keeping the 991 for 5 or 6 years or longer.

Agreed with previous posts. Go for it. When the next owner buys a high $$ car where engine repairs are very expensive, knowing that a warranty still applies is a big plus.

As part of the CPO process, see if you can get them to replace the tires. That alone should cover a good portion of the cost...

First bargain down the CPO price with the salesperson. Then, when the results come in, see if you can get tires (as mentioned above), check brake pads yourself, ask when last brake flush, oil change was done, get a detailing thrown in, etc.

Last two cars have been CPO. The newest one......quick story and reinforces bargaining down idea. I got the price quote to a good point and then said........the warranty is good for another 3 1/2 years so I really do not want to pay $1,800 for the CPO. SA went away, came back and said we like to sell with CPO so, how about, we give you the CPO and take off the $1,800. Done!
